The Budget - S2 Road Tax Bracket?

Does anyone know what the CO2 value is for the S2? - I wan't to know if Mr Brown is taking even more of my money!

I thought in the new system your tax bracket was determined from the actual emissions recorded during your MOT? All the MOT stations across the country have had to install a computer system that is hooked into some computer somewhere. When I sat in on my last MOT the computer was hooked upto the emmissions testing machine and the guy had to wait for it to establish a connection via the phone line before conducting the test. He was winging about the new system because it cost him a tidy sum to get himself hooked upto the latest system and it ties up his phone line while it was working. I only paid somewhere in the region of £10 - £15 more for 12 months tax for my 944 compared with my Focus. The guy commented on how good the emissions were during the MOT.

Not true Scott. Phil's links above give the true picture. The emmision readings from the MOT have nothing to do with RFL rates - only whether you pass or fail.

The computer link up is to enable DVLA to identify when a vehicle has an MOT pass - there is a similar link with the insurance system too - so on-line RFL renewal can be offered. If you have one of the latest "computerized" MOT certificates your RFL renewal notice will include details of how the RFL can be renewed on-line.

BTW. If anyone is picky about the appearance of their RFL, renewing on-line gets you a nice computer printed version rather than the hand written version you get at the Post Office.

Regards

Dave

I like the hand written version from my village post office[:)]
Much more in keeping with a car of character.

Only problem is the local post mistress uses a biro that fades in the sun so the tax disc is rather invalid by the end of the year!

Still not as bad as Dublin.
Road tax for my S2 is 1200 euro for 12 months.
Also, I've a yearly rail ticket but even though our muppet government keep trying to get people off roads and into public transport, they have no problem in charging 1200 for road tax for a car doing half the miles of any other car out there.
rant over.
Taking it to wedding tomorrow, I might just tear up the roads a bit to I'm getting my moneys worth/

OUCH !! I thought you boys registered your cars in the North as by my calculation that would save you £600 or just over 900 euros.!
I confuse the government here anyway as I have an 86 lux with an S2 engine.
I might just emigrate but they would probably tax my carbon footprint on leaving the U.K thereby making my exodus too expensive so I couldn't afford to go [:D][:D]
