Hi,

I found this article and thought I'd share it with you - dedication to a 964!

Enjoy!

What a turn around! The machine polish really brought the colour back to life, looks stunning now [:)]

I'll be turning my own polisher on the 964 soon after having finished practicing [;)]

Colin,I agree and lets face it,you might as well poke your eyes out as you wouldn't need them for driving, can you imagine the fear of getting it dirty and having to do all that again.

Great to see it done - I think there is a little bit of a polisher in me, somewhere I can respect this. Not sure I could spend quite this length of time on the car, but love the result.

If you don't have the skill, equipment or time to do it, just pay a professional !

That's what the 964 owner did on that DW thread.

Given teh cost of mechanically maintaining these beauties. £300-£500 on a proper detail from a professional is well woth it.

Once you have all the swirls out and it has been polished and waxed, it should last a long time if you are careful when washing it.

Saying that, the guy who did the 964 spent a heap of time and went the extra mile, even taking the exhaust off - that amount of time could cost more than £500 !

Fantastic job - but as he spent over 40 hours doing the work, even at a modest charge out rate, that's going to be closer to a £1500 worth of work rather than £500. If you could get that quality of work done for £500, I think there would be a long queue around the block!

I agree, I think that detailer was a little too anal i.e. taking the exhaust tip off and spending 3 hours on it !!

Most detailers will spend 1-1.5 days and charge around £500 for a correction detail consisting of wash, clay, machine correction of swirl marks, polish and wax though....and you will probably get 99% of the result that guy got !

The price could be higher (or lower) depending on the condition of the car

Our own PCGB member Cliff Wilkins offers a similar service (although I think he prefers elbow grease to machines) for a very reasonable and much cheaper cost which is further discounted for members : http://www.ctwvaleting.co.uk
