No not really , but I just returned from the ring last weekend and for the second time running , I had a problem with the 993TT, last year the alternater belt snapped and more seriously I had a problem with a drive shaft. , all despite a good check by OPC.
This year a track rod went at the first carrosell on the first lap !!!! , a few choice words were used.,
A big thanks to 'ring racing' who had the car back on the road better than new within 24 hours and thanks to a mate Don who gave me the loan of his 964 to trash around the ring ( handy to have a spare 911 lying around ,, as you do !!! ) .
I dearly adore this car , but oh my lord was i pissed off .. .........
Is it me or am I just sooooo unlucky , the car runs like a dream ALL the time except for these two occasions..

.......Please tell me why i should keep it please. !

Standing here looking at it out the window,Gave it its monthly Zymol ( no thats not a typo , I really am that A#AL )
Maurice, thanks for the 'generous' offer , but bugger off. !! LOL.
As for OPC, you are quite right, taking it to a very respected specialist .

I suspect only you can answer that really.

Only you can say if it is overall it is worth keeping.
You need to keep things in proportion - it sounds as if it has been fine apart from two indiscretions.
Whilst they are annoying, they could just be bad luck. Or perhaps a better inspection would have found them.
It will probably be fine from now on, in which case you would get rid of something that is fine.

I would guess that the main reason to keep it is that you would miss it though.

Had my alternator belt go one week after the 48k service at an OPC. The following week the clutch destroyed itself during a trackday (without any indication that it was on its way out). The OPC persuaded the warranty boys that a small oil leak had "blued" the flywheel and affected the clutch, saving me a shedload of lolly.
And I still love my projectile

Of course you need to keep and get a specialist to look after it, like Northways who runs one himself.

Now you both got me worried as planning a trackday and a trip into Europe, though my specialist is organising the latter and has the same car! so hopefully I'll be alright with that and my AA cover.

Ref Zymol what preperation do you do before putting a new layer on, (which I thought was meant to last 6 months+). Currently I have two layers that I put on before Xmas.

Please not to worry, Gordon.Have done another 15 thou miles, including lots of trackdays, and "Roger" has performed faultlessly.
Remember, after 60 thou, these aircooled wonders are just getting nicely run-in.

Hi Gordon, Prep, I HD clense about twice a year.
Other than that its auto bathe . It does last ,but the waxin is therapy !! ..for me , not the car .

The only reason to get rid of your 993, is for when the 997 turbo becomes more affordable. not for anything else.
Keep it, its lovely.

Be carefull and check the 997 Turbo very carefully, I've heard a few comments about the build copy not being what it should be
