The gen 1 turbo has gone from my life!!!

So today after 6 years I am without any 911.

The great black and black turbo tip I have had for nearly three years has got a new home at the dealer in exchange for a pile of cash that was on balance acceptable. So what to do with it, shame to invest it in something that might make a profit, so instead am expecting a new turbo s in November (initial order was placed in January though).

Seen a couple around which look good but want mine to stand out more so have specced it as follows. It has a build slot in late October, due in 4-6 weeks later.

Turbo s
White
Aerokit
Carbon race seats
Plain black leather interior
Yellow dials (to match the brake calipers)
Full black gloss alloys
Sunroof
Carbon pack
And a few other odds and sods

I wont miss that one when I am trying to find it on a dark night or bright day either!

I was driving the black one with an aerokit at Silverstone this week and the white cabriolet they have there currently, both immense cars and the coupe more solid and stable with fantastic turn in helped by this new vectoring system. I spent about 40 laps between both cars on the handling circuit as it was quiet and came away just amazed how a car that looked actually quite like mine could be so different.

Just need to be patient now and get the train to work for a while.

Yep, that will stand out ok! Very nice David and nothing like a few months of waiting and anticipating to make it even better! Paddles or multi-function?

David

thanks for saving me the effort and speccing my next car for me........[:D]

just got to find the cash to order the thing now......

Very nice choice just 3 months to go.......

Sounds like a pretty sporty spec there, I'm sure it'll look very smart.
Out of interest did you also consider maybe white dials with yellow seat belts ??

Outstanding! And no danger of not being able to find it in Waitrose car park!

Black wheels could be a good call. The standard wheel is very fiddly to clean and has a groove just behind the spokes that is difficult to get at and attracts all the black dust that you aren't supposed to get with ceramics.

Does the carbon pack include the carbon inserts in the steering wheel? The leather wheel is very nice and I'm not sure carbon sections would improve it.

Keep counting down the days

Cheers

Thanks for all the positive feedback, these moments are always exciting and will keep me going as I commute on public transport to work for a while

Its PDK to answer one question, all turbo s only come like that which for me is a plus, I know not for everyone though.

The carbon pack has the gear lever insert, the strip where the cupholders are and the handbrake in carbon, which is what I had on my last turbo and liked that little touch only.

I did consider yellow belts but got cold feet last Saturday on the configurator, might look a little too boy racer for someone of my age and the missus hates yellow anyway, so stuck with the dials only to compliment the calipers. I felt I could always change later if I really wanted to, so thought black to yellow was a safer route than yellow to black if I didnt like them

As for black wheels, I like the idea of the whole wheel being black and despite this being shown on the original configurator, the current one shows them with the silver rim and half black wheel, which IMHO doesnt look right.

What I have agreed to do is get the car in with standard wheels delivered and get them painted by the dealer so under warranty etc etc before I get the car (no more than the factory option anyway). That way they can be total black including inside and therefore wont be such a cleaning challenge either. The only final detail I am thinking about is whether to be gloss or matt. Gloss is the obvious choice and easiest to clean and where I will most likely go, but having seen carbon wheels on the Oakley design 997 and matt black wheels elsewhere, its got me thinking.

Finally apologies to GT3 owners for me trying to get a turbo to look more like their great cars. I love the GT3 but couldnt live with it day to day as a commute hence a slightly flashier turbo choice this time round.

Plenty of pics when the car arrives, promise!

Sounds wonderful David.
I found the big wait to be very very hard. I could not wait to get on the plane to fetch my car, and then we suffered a BA strike on my flight the day before collection at the factory.
Looking forward to your pics.
