Just received my copy.

Looks really good. Haven't read it fully yet, but first impressions are excellent.

First class 3.2 Carreras are becoming increasingly sought after, but more and more difficult to find. This book will whet a lot of appetites.

Highly recommended.

Hi Tony

Got mine yesterday and took it home with the intention of a quick thumb through last night but I actually ended up reading a load of it as it was so engaging. I particularly like the pages on driving the car - as someone with no track experience, it was really interesting to get some insight into the cars handling idiosyncrasies and the dos and don'ts of driving it. I also liked the Ferrari 328 comparison.

One point of contention though, that the 3.2s boot "will hold a remarkable amount of luggage". I remember reading in Paul Frere's book that the original design brief included the ability to get a set of golf clubs in the boot but I'll be b****red if I can get mine in. I have to say that, as someone who drives their Carrera as daily transport, this is the one theing that has me peeking at Imprezas and the like in the pages of Autotrader - only a brief flirtation though before I remember what I'd be missing.

So thanks for the book and especially all of those beautiful pictures that brighten up our lounge coffee table - I can see me thumbing through for years to come.

Thank you Iain, I greatly value your comments - very glad that you like it. It was specifically written/laid out to ensure that it was not just a 'one flick wonder' - the whole idea is that it has enough in it to ensure it is continually picked up.

I was looking forward to picking up a copy from the Club shop last weekend at the Open Day but was surprised to find it absent. Have to try Veloce direct.

Just bought my copy and expect delivery of it next 2-3 days. I am new to 3.2 ownership but not new to the marque (having just sold my 993). The 3.2 Sport is my favourite Porsche and I look forward to finding out more.

Just got my copy of the book which is a great read and very informative.

Already owned a Silver 1987 3.2 Carrera Sport Coupe, sold it for a Silver 993 C4 Coupe (what was I thinking!!!!!!)

So now looking for another Silver 3.2 Carrera Sport Coupe.

The book will have to keep me happy until I find the right car

Jesus Muzzer,
Although I love my 3.2 I can't imagine surrendering 993 ownership for a humble (although fantastic) 3.2 carrera!
Alimony aside,is there any other porscheophile reason for your change of heart?
Ian

I actually prefer the look of the 3.2 to the 993 plus I was getting fed up with all the problems on my 993, namely the DME going wrong/ the immobilser going wrong etc etc.

Grass is greener and all that, I agree with muzzer.

The 3.2 does look older and IMO cooler than new Porsche's.

It's simplier to maintain, you have more fun and lower speeds so aren't always in danger of loosing your licence.

Plus they aren't common unlike 993's & 996's.

i was thinking of it? i have a good few as it is really and the wife naggs, maybe she has a point..lol.

Steve - What point? I have a paltry seven [ Porsche Only ] but counting. Best have her buy it for you, I'm sure she'll enjoy looking at the pictures. Nice colours!

Does she drive yours?

hi Richard, just reading my last post and it does not make much sense, tired and working to hard. i have a lot of porsche books and almost every copy of 911 & porsche world from the first copy along with copys of other porsche mags. the wife is ok really. i think that there is only ever going to be so much that you can cover in any of the books and it just gets repeated although as you say nice pics, i might get a copy soon (birthday in a couple of months). can i ask when did you first get your porsche. and did you go to bowood. well have a nice day as im off to work to earn some pennies to buy more mags, books, and wax for my car.

Wednesday 13th August 2003 10:36 am - Don't think I've ever been to Bowood!

Previously, early 90's, owned a 924 but I bought a Narrowboat, had two other cars anyway, it wasn't terribly practical at that time and it wasn't getting used, so I sold it.

I think The Last of the Evolution is the only book dedicated to the 911 3.2 Carrera.

I've got a veritable library of Porsche books - varying from the outstanding (ie Carrera RS by Gruber & Konradsheim) to the mundane.

However, I would categorise Tony's book as excellent. If you've got a 3.2 Carrera you should get a copy. If you haven't, and you buy the book, you'll want one.
