I'm going to tackle most of the jobs 1-39 myself, MOT/ reliabillity items first,
otherwise the car would cost so much to sort it would be more viable to break it.
I would also say my car is currently not a good example of one to buy!!!

Jobs will be done in order of safety, MOT and those needed to keep the car reliable and running. Some parts obtained, some on order.

Bodywork, next to nothing as I already have the paint. I do a night course on vehicle restoration and can make my own panels. The sills are not a complex shape, so I'm going to make new ones myself. The patches are just for now.

With labour cost, the repairs on the car would be uneconomic, but DIY, I expct parts to come in (with a little creative sourcing) under/around ÂŁ1k.

Its been a good car for me for over 12 years, so it deserves it.

I've worked on old classic cars and done my DIY on old bangers I used to drive for years. And for quite a while, was afraid to touch the Porsche. But once you get going, its not a bad car to work on, just a bit tight for access for some jobs- and nowadays, there is tons of info and help out there- Carks garage, and this forum and the club etc.

Compared to a modern car, the 944 is actually a relatively simple machine.

John if you ever come to sell the car make sure to come back and delete this post [;)] [:D]

(or we could just cut n paste it into your advert for you :ROFLMAO: )

Well at least you have been brave enough to make the list...[:)] Look at it this way at least you will be a 944 expert by the end of it [;)] .

I'm with you on the spanner front John. I always did all the spanner work and welding on my old bangers, MGB's and 240Z's mostly . Once I got my first Lux in 97 I opened the bonnet took one look and shut it down again vowing never to touch it. As you say its all pretty straightforward really . Except when the blasted things don't start Grrrrrr.

I'm making a list myself this w/e look what you've started [;)]

I agree, peanut, although I still dont fully understand fuel injection and electronic ignition. I can get any car going if it has points and condensor and a carburretor, especially an SU!

LOL at Paul's answer, "come back and delete if I decide to sell the car[:D]" trouble is, I've had the car 12 years and what would i replace it with???

As for your car, Peanut, not starting, go back to basics, is there a spark? is fuel getting to the injectors? are they firing, is the spark at the right time??
Clarks garage is brilliant, I would not be trying this long list without that site, its so good.

I haven't ticked off any of the items on the list yet, had too many things happen over the last year. HOWEVER, once my garage is free work on the S2 will start, hopefully early september. By the way, after sitting in the front drive for a year (I have room for four cars at the front) the S2 started easily!!

Took the precaution of turning the engine over for a while with the plugs out and some red ex in the bores, and with the plugs back in and a fully charged battery the engine roared into life (with a lot of Redex smoke!) Sounds good too and the brakes were not siezed. It felt really good to drive it up and down the drive.

Makes me want to get the car back on the road!

You could answer 'they all do that' to most of your list [:)]

Better not post the things I need to do to the 944S for I fear I might break the internet.

A supercharger or a low pressure turbo, now that's an idea!!

(just to give a little boost up to 300bhp!)[:D][;)]

Yes, most of the items are not too major, but still annoying, like the heater blower that only works on four!

Nice to see that you are giving your "old friend" the attehtion it deserves...................good on ya !
Best of luck Jim.
