Last night I thought I'd change the Air filter on my S2, thinking this would be a five minute job, like every other one I've ever changed, when lo and behold I discover that the S2 doesn't require one, as there is no box for me to open and then insert the new cartridge. A few prods with the screw driver and I decide to try the handbook, which has a lovely diagram of the Turbo air filter, on further inspection in the small print it states "due to the location of the air filter in the S2 it is recommended you have this replaced at an OPC) (aprox). Wonderful, on goes the internet and I get a good description from our American friends first advising me to get a beer in the fridge for when it's completed (as I'll need it). Then the description, put the headlights up and remove the front of the car, a job for another day I think. Does anyone know of an easier way to replace this and are there any other gems awaiting me, as I give NM a winter service.

Removing the nose panel is not too much of a job but it is a pain to have to do this just to get at the filter. Prolly took me about 3/4 of an hour when I did mine.

No easier way, and take care when you change the oil not to spill used oil from the filter (which is mounted upside-down) all over your engine bay [;)]

You'll get used to it's quirks with experience, Just like 911 owners quickly learn that some service jobs are easier to do with the engine removed [8D]

Thanks, I did the oil the day before and was just about to remove the filter when that dawned on me. I should have known that it was going to be a bit odd really, as the first time I ever removed my sunroof it took half an hour to get it back on, thankfully it wasn't raining

Once you've done it the first time it's no more than 30 minutes to remove and refit the badge panel. The air filter box sits directly underneath and is simply undoing and refixing some snap connectors
