Hi .. and help

I am looking for a Targa. Has to be a Tiptronic.

Sooooo...... Advice please!!

What price should I be looking at?

Do I sit and wait??? Will prices fall still??

I wopuld love an Arena Red one but ... there is only so long to wait before you give up....

I'd also thought about a cat D car?? Then get a few nice touches done to it........ but thats a tricky one!

Soooooooo any and all advice really appreciated!

ohhhh not Silver! Just a personal preference!! Sorry everyone who owns a silver car lol

Hello and Welcome! Have a look on Pistonheads and Autotrader to get a feel of prices depending on what kind of mileage/spec/year you are looking for. Prices will continue to fall especially from December to February with a small pick up in Spring time. I'd say that most of the depreciating will have been done by now so it should be a relatively painless purchase. I used to have an Arena red car and I loved it, but it's a real marmite colour and quite rare, so don't wait too long, and if you do get one, it should be cheaper than an equivalent black/Silver/Blue car as it will have a smaller market come resale time. IMO stay well away from a Cat D car because whatever you save now you will lose come resale and the potential market will be tiny, so you will be hanging on to it for a long while. There are so many cars out there I really wouldn't bother. Good luck!

ORIGINAL: w852dh1 Not sure about Rodney's assessment on it being cheaper - the fewer of a particular colour and type there are, the higher the price the seller can ask. With all the black, silver and blues available, in all manner of styles, the only real differentiation becomes price (unless you've got a really nice black one like Rodney's [8|])
Try getting a bid from a dealer in a 'non standard' colour like Rainforest Green, Arena Red, Macadamia or Cobalt Blue then you'll see what I mean. I don't sell to dealers, but there weren't that many people calling me when I had mine up for sale until the price was dropped 'till they didn't care if it was invisible! [:D] IMO buy what colour you want your car to be in, it's your car to enjoy after all, just be mindful of the effect it will have on resales and the size of the market.

Things do seem to be changing though. I have been asked in the past, by two Porsche specialists, if I want to sell mine ( Lagoon blue /green with matching roof tint and natural brown interior) . One said that there are now many interested buyers who don't want the usual silver/black combination but could not find much else. I might be taking them up on their offer shortly. Also , one made an interesting point that Targa's always sell because they are usually very well spec'd. One OPC said that they didn't want another silver with black on the forecourt
