The strangest of conversations.....

Ex Skyline

....Took place today between myself and a Z4 owner [&:]. Basically, he wanted to do a swap with me, no cash either way, his
Gunmetal Grey, fast back, BMW Z4, '09' registration, in exchange for my Black, 944 Turbo [8|]!! WTF?!?! He was very serious,
especially after I showed him around it, especially underneath [8D]! He told me that he had always had a soft spot for 944's and,
Turbo's in particular! He felt that now was the time to" scratch that itch" so, would I be up for a swap? This exchange took place
on the veranda of a lovely pub just up the road from where I live, where I was having lunch with my children just a couple of hour's
ago! Now, I had an M3 once and, never really fell in love with it. To this day I don't really like BMW's. Don't ask me why, I just
don't [8|]. He was quite "put out" when I told him this and, jokingly,I said that, although it was quite a pretty colour, I would want
two of them for my '44 Turbo!! My little boy Sid' told the chap that his Z4 looked funny and, our Black Porsche could beat it easily!!
My little girl Florrie, blew a raspberry at him! She was a little confused as to what was going on I suppose and, she loves the Turbo
just as much as Sidney [8D][:D]!! The chap's name was Arthur and he said he was now going to sell his Z4 and, start looking for
a '44 Turbo [8D]. I gave him the PCGB forum details and, told him to drop in sometime and say hello. He may even show up at
Stanmer Park for the Classic Car show tomorrow. I hope he does [:)].

A very wise decision Pete.. An old friend of mine bought a Z4.. slightly older but the one you were offered.. the one with the big engine,, can't remember size now, perhaps 2.8... It was embarrassingly dangerous on the limit... he tried everything to make the chassis more rigid but failed, eventually sold it. On one occasion when we were driving down the M4 in shall we say a spirited manner we hit a large dip in the road, my car took it without fuss, his crossed two lanes and very nearly spun with the possibility of rolling.... a very, very bad car.

As i said a very wise decision mate...:)

Wot Pete Sed.

Z4's are not great cars. There's a thread on PH about them at the moment. Stick with the 944 Turbo.

Oli.

I am surprised you didn't accept the offer. You wanted to sell the 944 for 10k and seemingly got no offers. A quick look on Autotrader tells me an 09 plate Z4 is going for at least 10k and will undoubtedly sell easily this time of year. The trade would seem to be the answer to your problem. Take the Z4 in exchange and sell it on straight away.

I told him this and, jokingly,I said that, although it was quite a pretty colour, I would want
two of them for my '44 Turbo!!

I was impressed with what you told him Pete. Some idiots would have done a deal and lost a cracking sports car to gain a few quid, which would never be enough to buy back what they lost in the future.

Now that you have declined, he will be more determined to get one.

Now whats his number....[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]
No, he's not having mine either.

Ha,ha! Yes indeed George [;)]!! He was a very nice chap even though a bit strange. It was a very random conversation but, one
that I feel, will lead to him buying a '44 Turbo [8D]. Another convert to the fold [:D]. I don't like BMW's Glenn [8|] and, yes, he did
value his car at around 10k (hence him asking if I wanted to do a straight swap). However, as I said a few months ago, when I was
unable to buy that MK1 Savage Cortina (because my wife found out [:(]), all thoughts of selling my '44 Turbo vanished [:)]. I am
now very happy to keep it and, carry on with my rebuild plans and, lots more mod's to come [8D][:D]. I never wanted to sell
because I needed to "ca$h In" my investment and, now after such a great day out with lovely people and, great cars at yesterday's
Brighton gathering, my car's future is looking bright [:D]. I can't imagine what I was thinking those months ago [8|][:D].
