Is this Buchanan Motors of Glasgow trading under a new name?

He has a few cars for sale that look quite nice, but noticed the picture locations and style of adverts are very similar to the Buchanan Motors adverts previously seen.

Shark should be able to tell us, Mark runs the Throttle Shop! [:)]

Someone else said that Shark was Buchanan Motors [;)]

I personally like the quality of his adverts and the way he gave detailed pictures of all areas of the car. He is no different to Maltons, Gmund, Paragon etc. in the way he advertises cars and that is how you sell them [:)]

I purchased my car from Him[:)]

is it my imagination or does 90% of the UK's population of 944's live in Scotland[:D]

Throttle Shop ltd is myself and my brother. We always have a few Porsches to offer. Presently have that 70k S2 and an '81 911 SC which is under prep. Struggling with the s2, its been hanging around for a while. Only had one viewing on it and that chap saw my Turbo beside it and decided that's what he wanted instead lol. I think the half leather is harming it or maybe its just too late in the year, its pricey but it does have a lovely mileage. The previous keeper works for Glasgow OPC he had it ten years, it's a top car.

I agree about the interior, I've looked at this on pistonheads and the interior has put me off. Mileage is good but as I am going to use the car everyday I don't mind a higher mileage car with a leather interior but must have FSH. There are so many for sale I think buyers just wait for the right spec. I'm sure someone will be looking for a low mileage 944 at some point.

Good luck with the sale

Wow looks exactly the same as my H182 KBL looked when I bought it back in the new year of 2001. A real time warp of a car that.

The bolsters are all thick vinyl, there is no leather in that package but the pinstripe wears fantastically well and is proper old school hard wearing velour stuff.

Leather is over rated, on the leather cars the only leather is on the faces of the front seats. Everything else is horrid thin vinyl, I regretted swaping out mine for a leather sports set as black vinyl door cars just looked and felt horrid compared to the velour. The sports seats also only fit people that are very thin, when I put on weight I found the back rest really uncomfortable. Luckily I kept the door cards and used these in stripped down form in my race car. Nothing is as comfortable or supportive as a properly fitting race seat.

Purely my personal opinion but M030 is vastly more important than turbo v S2. On the S2 or early turbo cars its the to soft suspension that slows you down more than anything to do with power. The 968 seemed to get it just right but that was basically the development path that went Koni M030 -> late turbo Sachs shocks to save money -> 968.

M030 is under-rated on this forum historically. People tend to complain it is to harsh but it is proper high performance stuff, Porsche tuned it as a no compromise performance package. Until a couple of years back Paul Seagrave ran this suspension on his race car in the club championship and did pretty well with it!

I agree with all you said above.
The M030 on this car is an added extra, a replacement upgrade to the original stock. It does make a world of difference to the feel and drive of the car over a car without it.

Not the best picture but my MY91 Turbo has the blue sport seats with the blue pinstripe velour which is really luxurious and wears very well. I like this much better than the all leather option.

I like my Silver Rose seats now that I've put sports seats in. Again with the hard vinyl and now re bolstered and fitted with new cloth. Just waiting for the re trimmed door cards to come back now.

Yes, much better with sports bolsters. The Silver Rose cabin is stunning, I see you have replaced the vinyl with leather and that wheel and gaiter looks in mint condition. I like the ashtray blank is that a 968 item or have you modded an actual ashtray- I like that. The armrest thing that is 968 I believe, but certainly doesn't look out of place given they have the same cabin.
I particularly like the studio plaid half leather cabin, I used to keep a late white 951 with metropole blue half vinyl and studio plaid with sport chairs, the studio plaid was greys/blues/and a subtle pink on the seat centres and doors..truly the sweetest 944 cabin that ever left the factory in my opinion.

Thanks Mark. The wheel was re trimmed by Royals (cost £105 including the leather), the seats were re trimmed with leather as you have said by a local upholsterer in Carlisle and I provided the burgundy check material (supplied by Southbound).

The armrest is the same as the 968 and is available from OPC for about £20 but remember to also order the rubber mat [;)]. The ashtray is a modification carried out before I got the car.

Do you have any pictures of your 951 with the studio plaid cloth?

I sold the S1 during the summer buddy.. are you on the S1 forum too? It was no good for me, I spent 4hrs cleaning everytime it went out, underneath and in the wheel arches etc...far too much hassle. Then it was not reliable either, something daft would happen when I took it out and it would make a fool of me.. once it ran out of fuel as the gauge was wrong, another time a wire came off the starter, and other time a fuel line came off as there was no jubilee on it....silly things, but all in all I had no confidence in the car and got fed up recovering it from the side of the road. Brillaint to look at.. but to be honest they are shit to drive.. No build quality and flimsy. Fun when it was running..more hassle than its worth!

I'll see if I can find images of the 951 with studio plaid..I think all those images were on my Buchanan server and are lost/gone now, but I may have some in the bowls of my pc! watch this space...

I don't seem to have any pics unfortunately.. a google about finds these.. I think it is also know as celebration plaid?

If you use your imagination you can see those in the car with sports bolsters, plaid on the doors etc.. it makes a really cool cabin!

Both myself and Martin are ex RSOC Registrars, ex RS Concours'ers, ex Escort owners, between us we've had some of the best Escorts in the country, as you say though they are lovely to look at but leave a lot to be desired in all other areas, cannot see the value in them and the scene is dead.

944 are far better ....but I do admit to still polishing the underside.

I like the Celebration Plaid, it would look great with sport seats in a glacier blue car

Interesting stuff

The m030 on the Boxster is terrific and works really well on track. It's great VFM. Ok it's a cheaper non adjustable setup, but the car was incredibly composed at Spa. A friend has a 996 on standard suspension (probably a bit tired) & several people thought there was a massive difference between the two cars.

Most 944 m030 setups will be well past their best by now, so no great surprise that they are not highly regarded by many.
