The wrong N?

I've noticed that the rear tyre on the drivers side is a different N rating to the others but they are all still michelin pilot sports. I think i remember a thread about this before but i cant remeber what it said. Someone recently mentioned that it may affect my insurance which is why it is bothering me now, I'm currently insured with AXA and cant decide whether to ring and ask whether it is a problem or not because if it is then it is a definite new tyre and it is only 5 months old. Does anyone have any experience with this or advice. If a new tyre is in order, does anyone know a decent place in or near nottingham
Thanks in advance
Martyn

I wouldn't worry about the insurance/warranty as they are N rated after all. What is your wheel size; I'll tell you what the latest N number wheels the car should have?

Porsche say if you mix different tyres or N numbers (N0, N1, N2...) then the driving performance may vary... so as long as you are happy with the car handling, just change the front to the latest N number when they need replacing. Assuming the rear had the latest N number for the size when you changed them:

If 17 inch then you would have Pilot Sport N2
if 18 inch then you would have Pilot Sport N1

Edit: Sorry I read your post wrongly: I read both your rears are different N number to the front. Having different N numbers on the same axle is not advisable and you should change the other to match the N number. Where did you get the tyres and who fitted them as they should have known this?

Never mix tyres on the same axle.

Ideally have all four of the same type although I have run different N ratings and even different makes front and back with no problems

I would advise you get a matching pair.

It doesn't matter what the number is as long as both are the same.

It could effect your insurance if you have a prang and the tyre mis-match was deemed a contributory factor. Having N rated tyres is not mandatory on my policy.

Thanks for the replys. On closer inspection the tyre is a michelin pilot but has no N rating that i can find. The others are all N1 michelin pilots (18" carrera 5 spokes). It is speed rated Y and has "extraload" written after it. This tyre was put on just before i bought the car by the previous owner because the other was buldging. The tyre is the correct speed rating but not N rated. It of course drives fine and i guess i dont push it hard enough yet to realise the difference ie no track days!

From whathas been said above it seems i need to change this tyre for driving or insurance/warranty reasons Pity since there is so much tread.

Cheers
