Hi folks,

Just an FYI... There's almost a dozen aftermarket manufacturers of struts and/or shocks for the 924/944/951/968. That's pretty good for an older low volume model.

They are: Bilstein, Ground Control, H&R, JIC, JRZ, Koni, KW, Leda, Moton, Öhlins and ProTrac. You can find links to those companies at: http://www.weissach.net/924-944-968_SuspensionPartsSuppliers.html

Note that I was going to add KLA to that list but when I checked their site this afternoon, I couldn't find the rear coilover they used to sell anywhere on the site. Have they stopped making it?

Oh and of course lets not forget that Porsche and Sachs Boge still provide some OEM struts and shocks for the cars.

Anyway... a few pics:

Hey thanks for this post. Lots of interesting stuff in the link. Check out the 'Diasio' race car www.diasio.com looks like too much fun!!!

I've been looking around at options for some time now. I believe White-power also do a coilover set with remote resevoirs, and perhaps more interestingly a look at the Avo website shows some universal double and triple adjustable coilovers.

Its a shame Spax haven't developed the RSX kits for the 924/44/68 as they would be a good cost effective solution.

So thats potentially two more

Cheers

As far as I know JRZ don't exist anymore and Moton were founded by one of the cofounders of JRZ.

It's a shame that most of these companies don't offer an option for a straight replacement for the standard units without all the track-orientated adjustments. I'd like the modern benefits of some of the features like that flappy mechanism that KW offer for example but in an esentially standard replacement unit - maybe slightly uprated - to update the ride and handling on my car. If I were to go for something like this i'd feel like i'd be paying over the odds for features I don't need and wouldn't use. I have asked around at several specialists now and none of them can source an essentially modern non-adjustable replacement units.

The KW variant 1 has no adjustments apart from the spring platform which is adjustable for height.

Variant 2 has adjustable height and rebound rates
Variant 3 is the full track adjustable height, rebound and bump rates

I would call Stuart at http://www.k300performance.co.uk/kw-suspension.htm and ask him for advice. He's the 968 Register Secretary so knows our cars [:D]

Has anyone here tried a KW varient 1? varient 2 and 3 scare me, to many adjustments to screw up!

I just want a good replacements for the stock stuff, but slighlty stiffer. I guess sort of 968cs type, if you get my meaning.

You should be happy with koni yellows from the M474 (944 S2) equipment and non-M030 968 CS springs. I've been very happy with that setup on my street-only S2.

I don't know if the do a variant 1 or 2 for the 944/968. I have a feeling they start at v3 in that particular application. Could be wrong mind, it happened once before.

You mention something about a "flappy mechanism" on the KW stuff.. WHAT flappy mech.????
Ive got the V3 stuff on my S2 + its got no "flappy" bits......Lots of loverly adjustments though....[;)][;)][:D][:D][:D]

Any body have any pointers as to where to start looking for non mo303 968cs front springs and 25.5mm rear torsion bars then? As that sounds like the way for me

As Fen said I meant the High Speed Bypass Valve which from the accounts i've read is a really effective feature not only smoothing out bumps and potholes on the road but also on the track if you venture onto the kerbs. It's modern features like these that, to me, mean that KW (and other kits i'm sure) are much more modern than M030 who's fundamental design is over 20 yrs old now.
