Thermostat changing

944cabby

New member
Just been looking through the service history of mine and although the water pump was changed at 82k, there's no sign of a thermostat change which i think is a little strange.
With my old 924lux on one occassion i kept it off road for about 4 months during the winter and, apart from starting her once or twice a week, when i did get her back on the road she kept losing coolant through the breather because the thermostat had seized and wouldn't open - changed the thermostat and the issue was solved.
Apart from possible overheating would a faulty thermostat cause other problems in a 944?
Does anyone change them regularly?

Only changed mine when it went faulty. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"
Apart from overheating there shouldn't be any problems, unless it is stuck open then you will suffer from overheating, car never gets to correct operating temperature.
Cheers,

When mine went it stuck open - car never got to operating temperature and was a pain in cold weather - lumpy tickover etc. Tried changing it myself and gave up after half a day - took it to a local garage and it took them just as long! As the man said "if it aint broke...."
