Thermostat!

Does anyone have any tips on how to install the thermostat on a 2.7 89 model? I have the correct circlip pliers, but the stat does not seem far enough back in the housing for the circlip to locate in the groove? Any ideas?

Thanks, Jason.

I had a little difficulty getting the circlip back in the groove when i replaced mine.
Provided that you have put it all back in as it should be, with the correct spacer washers, mine had 2.

Get the circlip, and a file, and gently file down the edges to make it slightly thinner. By slightly i mean enough to take the black off and reveal shiny metal, this was enough for me to get it back in the groove.
I think its just a case of it being in there so tight, that it wont go back in unless you can clean the groove out a bit, which is soooo hard with the pump in the car, that filing the circlip is easier.
