Hi everyone.

Alarm went off but i could not see anything so reset it and went back to bed.

Just gone out now to go for a drive and drivers rear quarter window smashed to peices.
Anyone know how to get it out???
Do you have to take some of the trim out??

Any help please before it goes dark.

Oh and any ideas were I can get a new window.

Thanks for any help

Lee

Did mine a few weeks ago due to a stone from a lorry.

Glass is only about £15 from a breakers.

Easy to fit.....when you know how!

Tape the glass (or whats left) for less mess

From inside the back of the car (your about to find out how small the back seats are)Peel back the top seal from the outer edge and slide in a flat blunt blade, I used a putty knife.

Gently lever the seal along the top edge (mind the headlining) pushing gently from the inside, ming it does not pop out and scratch the car.

Clean seal with silicone spay, put seal on new glass.

Put sting around seal, overlap string by 50mm at the bottom edge.

Offer unit to the outside of the car with the ends of the string on the inside trapped by the seal.

The seal is totally on the outside of the car.

I got the wife to press on the glass from the outside while I got in the car and pulled the string, this peels the seal over the lip (and upholstery)

Pull on both ends of the string, when all the sting is pulled out the unit just pops in.

Sounds difficult, I had not done this before and it took less than 10 minutes.

Cheers Berg

found a helpful glass fitter this evening who thinks his mate has a secondhand window

If he does a quick trip to Ellesmere Port and he will even fit it.

But if not I will source a secondhand one and fit it myself

Cheers

Well managed to get a secondhand rear OS quarter and get it fitted for £20.

I can only thank Ian at 1-2-1 windscreen services near Chester. Mega service, he even picked the glass up from a breakers then I met him half way and he popped it in. Very carefull and very thorough. So if any one on the Wirral or Chester area needs windows he is really helpful. 07791 313507.

Auto watcher thing from the Yellow pages wanted £166!!!!!![:-]

Cheers

Sorry to hear about a scumbag in our area, Lee. Mine got damaged in Sainsbury's, Upton. And I thought Sainsbury's were supposed to be posh!

Not in Upton..........South Wirral is the posh area [:D]

Mike

Good to here you have fixed it Lemon, Just about to take one from mates car (I gave him £15 for the otherside) I was even going to offer to fit it for you.

Thanks MIke much appreciated. At least it is fixed now which is just aswell as it is p##ssing down.

Unfortunatel my driveway is secluded, so was dark, but now has huge big 500 watt motion lamp fitted. Will fry them if they try again, which I hope they don't !!!!

Thanks to you all anyway

Meant to ask you both. Rodders and Mike, do you go to any of the club evenings and if so when are you going to one of the next ones, I have never been to one, only rolling road day last year at Jamsport.

Small meeting tonight, The Thatch, Raby

See North Wales forum

I can not go as I have other commitments on the first Wed of each month.

Sorry Lee,

I was using the internet at work and have only just read your post. It was a small gathering last night and only the front-engined vehicle appears to work in the rain. Will mail you about meetings.

Cheers Rodders

Lee,

Me and my boisterous chums were asked to leave in the early 80's for the heinous dual crime of having motorcycles and long hair at the same time! Managed to sneak in Ok this week. They musn't have recognised me. Mind you, I've not got a motorbike or any hair now!

Rodders

ps. Hope you cars feeling better know
