Things you notice when 944's used every day

..in my case that the heater fans come on later (i.e. when hotter as indicated by the water temp gauge) with the lights on. I presume that this is because of the current drain causing the instrument cluster to mis-read, as I can't think of another link between the lights and the fan control electrics...Peculiar.

Hmmm... on a friend's '84 944, with sidelights on, the oil pressure oscillates between two positions and the warning light for the seatbelt comes on and off.

It's slightly better for he has cleaned the grounds ! [:D]

Open the driver's door in the dark & I never know whether the interior light is going to come on or not, if it doesn't find the switch in the door hinge panel & with the slightest touch it comes on (and I've cleaned the contacts loads of times).

Stick £80 of Shell's finest into the tank & the gauge still doesn't read full.

At the moment my climate control is oscillating between hot & cold. On average it works fine [:D]

Rear hatch light doesn't always come on
Electric mirrors adjuster sometimes works
I also put £60 fuel in at weekend and the gauge only reads 1/4 full so now I can't trust the gauge.
i'm not sure about my speedo either - at 100mph the tacho shows 4000rpm exactly. Is that about right for a 1986 2.5 lux manual?

cheers steve

I think it's time I did that FAQ on the gauges as I lived without a gauge for quite a while.

I don't trust my fuel gauge either. It goes up and down as you'd expect, but by amounts of its own devising!

Seems gauges are a bit random at times. Serves you well to carry coolant, some fuel, PAS fluid and some oil in the car. Every time i brake i hear the tide coming in.....[:D]
