Third year warranty?

Hi folks
Just been reading (on another forum) that there is an apparent 'third year warranty' which includes roadside assistance and a compulsory charge of circa £760.
Is this true?
If anyone has experience/feedback regarding this I would be grateful as I'm not hearing anything back from the salesman at the PC.
Doesn't show anything on my new vehicle order contract, so a little puzzled.
Cheers
Rob

I've heard some rumblings about a three year warranty. I will ask the question tomorrow when I collect mine!!

There are rumours of a third year warranty.

However, Porsche AG, like many other manufacturers, provide a two year worldwide warranty. Thereafter (and in countries like the US, where it is 4 years), the extension is provided by the concessionnaire (ie PCGB). So, it is possible that it will show up on the configurator as a non-delete option but included in the otr price, like the tracker. This may be included in the price rise, from which current deliveries are protected.

Might be wrong, but that's how I read it.

ust heard to day that as from 1st May the price will include a third year warranty.
As mine is sheduled for delivery mid april, I will look to defer it until then if I have to if it means getting the 3rd year warranty. Either that or I pay extra to get it, if the list price jumps on 1st May across the range.
This came from Porsche source - anyone else recently picked up their car and got the 3rd year either gratis or at extra cost?

Afraid not! [:(] I could have bought the extra warranty but at the usual (high) price. My dealer seems rather hazy about the whole business but my understanding is that it will be included but at an additional cost of £700 or so from May 1st.

So what you are saying is on purchase you are offered a discount on a 3rd years warranty as opposed to given a 3 year warranty.......... Our German friends must have been studying Her Gordon in how to financial stuff you but try and make it look like they just given you something.......

My understanding Tom is that it is more compulsory rather than being offered!! I might well have got the wrong end of that stick but we'll soon find out.

Well I've just seen my official order form for a GT3, may build.
The 3rd year warranty is included at an additional price of £910, plus £169 for Porsche assistance, so 2 x price hikes now this year !!
Apparently I'll have a 2010B model.

I'm speaking to my salesman at the moment and hoping to include it, as my car is due to arrive late April. Makes sense to include it at time of purchase as there is a saving over extending it, especially if they hike the warranty costs again over the next 2 years. As I'm looking to keep the car for some time it makes sense for me.
As this would be purely an administrative exercise I would think that it should be easy for them to sort out.

Crikey Rob, you've got more faith than most I think! I hope it all works out to your advantage though. I would have taken a "cheaper" third year had it been on offer.

Hi TSCaptain
Heh, I guess I'm a confirmed optimist! My OPC are looking into it today and will let me know as soon as they get a confirmation back. Apparently, as this is all still a bit 'new' to PCGB it seems you have to speak to the right person to get the definitive answer.
If there is no saving to be made then I can't see the point of it really, might as well put the money aside and generate a little interest (well, in these times probably enough for a twin cone 99 with two flakes after a couple of years).
As soon as i get a definitive reply I'll post.
How are you getting on piloting the Red Arrow at low altitude by the way?[:D]
