This guy really doesn't like the 996!!

Suppose that you were given a rental 911. Now suppose that you have no prior Porsche experience.

How would you treat it? [;)]

PS - he seems to prefer the 996 to the Boxster!

He is not that far off.....
Unless you get the high end 996, the car is not built for track days.
Unfortunatelly, as I have said before, Porsche is trying to sell cars not for performance but for esteem...
But if the performance is lost the esteem will soon evaporate because the prices are not high enough to maintain the momentum, like Ferrari or Lambo for example.
I fear that the Porsche brand rapidly becomes the "MenoPorsche" car.
Nevertheless, I beleive that my 996 is a great value-for-money all-around super-sports car with adequate abilities for adrenalin kicks.

Depends on the driver!

This guy sounds like an experienced track driver. He needs a GT3.

Those of us who just dip our toe in the world of track days and pootle round watching the rear view mirror, a Carrera works. Well, it has for me so far anyway.

The problem is that the 911 brand is so powerful that all the cars in the range are viewed as one of a kind. We in PCGB know that a Carrera 4 and a GT2 are not similar, but many others don't.

On the contrary, an experienced driver will easily find the capabilities of any car, drive it to its limit and have fun.
Unexperienced drivers will only have fun with a powerfull car on straight acceleration, the fun starts when overtaking while hard on brakes....
Cheers
