993rs Register April edition. Hope you all have a good seasons driving, track days etc. Rs track day down south. I have quite a few people suggest a down south rs day, but know one has really come forward to say lets do it!. We will have had our annual pilgrimage to oulton park ,by time you read this. They are normally fantastic days, and a informal beer & Chinese or Indian the night before. Plenty of rs of 964 &993 variety along with quite a few gt3,s .A slightly different twist this year, is on the Friday we are meeting at 9m in Warrington for a rolling road session in the afternoon, this can interesting for any one who has not seen it done, and also a bit worrying some times! It's a open pit lane this year, so it should be even better than last year, all for £165.We use easy track, which normally organise a efficient day, and Tim looks after us well. So if you would like a down south day later in the year, please send me a email, and we will see what we can do. 993 cup car I have sadly parted company with my cup car, its been sold to another member of the register, who has been racing a rhd 993 rs club sport. But now plans to race the cup car and save his rs! I have decided to move on a little and go up to class 1 in the Porsche club open series, with a RHD 993 gt2.!Sounds mad I know. It's a factory motorsport shell with a rs tuning 600bhp engine. So looking forward to the season, with first race at snetterton and a steep learning curve. Values Well these cars never cease to amaze me, with regards to how they hold there money. LHD clubsports having been changing hands for around £45 to £50k,and the standard version for around £45 to £50k.RHD drive clubsports have been changing owners for as much as £75k and the standard versions from £54 to £65k cars. There are even German dealers trying to buy back nice cars for the German market. The 993 gt2 market is quite active as well at the moment, couple of nice lhd cars have recently come in the country, and there are a couple of rhd cars for sale at the moment between £125k & £150k. There is a real shortage of genuine non-crashed gts at the moment at the right price. If there cheap, they have generally been crashed at some point. The genuine lhd cars are now asking big money, between £100k to £150k.A nice car has just been sold, considered higher mileage than most, but with a service history to die for, so the new owner is more than happy. I think he said he was 110% happy!! So if you have been thinking about one of these cars, get one now while there are some nice ones around with good history, and of course almost depreciation proof motoring. I am always at the end of the phone or email ,if you want to check a chassis number out on either a 993rs or 993 gt2.I have quite a comprehensive list of good cars and accident damaged cars etc. Also contacts of people who can pre purchase check your potential new car. If you have one for sale, or want to buy one, please let me have the info, as I get a few enquires for good genuine cars. Things to look for, before you buy a car. A short list of major points, to look out for on a pre purchase check. It might just save you a lot of money! Cylinder head leaks, lots do leak! Barrel to crankcase seals leaking oil. Clutch worn out, or nearly .Generally you can tell by the amount you have to let the clutch out before it bites. Limited slip diff, has it had the upgraded parts ?is the LSD worn out? Sinchros in the gearbox, they may be worn if its high mileage, or been tracked a lot. Worn out tyres, Brake discs & pads. The solid rose jointed top mounts on your dampers, they wear out and start to give you play /movement in the top of the struts/dampers. These are just some of the points you should have checked out before you buy. Club web site The forum I have recently discovered, there are some interesting topics on there, between all the user groups, and some great light hearted banter. I will try and get a 993rs section on there, you can then fire your questions on to the forum, or even better submit some articles. 993 RS & GT2 centenary this year. Would any like to help me, by taking on this role of organising a display, static & mobile for brands this year. I will be busy racing there, and doing my bit with a mobile display! So I will need some committed help please. For ever lightweight Paul Howells

Let alone a 993RS Day South what about a Register Assistant done here in the form of the extremely capable and endless fountain of streaming knowledge of everything Automotive and Financial, Clubsport.[;)]

Chaps, as much as I would like to assist with the 993RS register where I could, unfortunately I find myself ridiculously limited in time, studying for yet more nigh on impossible exams, I am unlikely to use the 993 until after June '10 which is why I haven't signed up for any events of late, I don't like the idea of failing to keep up any commitments.

More than happy and almost enthusiastic to help with events and 15 year celebrations after June though..cheers

Paul, I recall interesting times with the cars in '05, more being used on track and values were only starting to pick up....almost seems like a long time ago! :)

Clubsport, I also would be interested in helping with this, but like you have times of total madness when I really feel like a function of Life rather than an independent entity !

Is there a Southern and Northern "event share" in this for the 15th anniversary ?

15 Jahre is that next year for the 993RS?

Chris W you seem to have a lot of time for events etc and own a 993RS with abounding enthusiasm ...... you would be an ideal man to help with the 15 Jahre celebrations .... [:)]
