We all have idea's, bucket list, wish list or what ever you call it, I hope to inspire you fellow petrol heads here.....sorry to post our jolly video but we absolutely loved it, so if you can just do it [:)]
if you do it and it doesn't go to plan it just add's to the experience and yes the bonnet up was after 90+mph on German autobahn's after 6hrs driving luckily the old girl was only teasing or complaining.

Music is how to train your dragon....hahahaha yes we did.

Great video and looks like a fantastic trip. It never fails to amaze me how good a 44 is at doing long runs. They are so comfortable at speed on a motorway and even better when the going gets twisty. I'll bet the car runs better now than it did before you left.

I did 3,000 miles in a weekend in a 944 in 2007. Sheffield>Nottingham>Goodwood>Dover>Calais>Brussels>Stuttgart in one leg! Day two took us South through France and Switzerland to the outskirts of Turin, and the third day from Turin back over the Alps to Dijon. On Monday we nipped back from Dijon to Calais>Dover and home to Sheffield.

2 years ago we did something similar in the 968 cab - 2600 miles in 19 days, avoiding motorways as much as possible. Portsmouth-Santander by ferry, then across northern Spain in and out of the mountains staying at Paradores (mainly superb) to Santiago, then back in and out of the south side of the mountains, through the Alps to Lourdes then north via the Millau, Parc des Volcans to Epernay and home. Car did not miss a beat, apart from the first morning it was roof down all the way, programmed each days route into the satnav ahead of time, fantastic trip - and fitted the luggage into the boot and behind the front seats of the cab - but had to sort luggage ahead of time and restrict what herself could take!

Can't do a video, as despite having an excellent dashcam for the trip, have been unable to edit the videso into something useable. However, in a FE Porsche, even a cab, such a trip is doable and loads of fun. When we had the coupe we also did Le Mans camping, had the roof panel in the boot over the luggage and still was able to use the rear view mirrod while sruising at 130kph on the motorway and find space for a little shopping on the way home!

One comfort on the trip - my insurance with ClassicLine includes full EU breakdown and recovery (car and people!), so we had a safety net in case of problems - thankfully not needed!

Good route I can remember Millau early 2000 with a single track it just appeared after a 3 lane motorway just stopped.... gridlock into the valley and back out its now replaced with that stunning bridge.
I'm so pleased that I brought back memories for yourself and others reading and viewing what we've done in our older Porsches too, plus tempting others to do the same and have a bash....
Although, I've been cheeky mentioning "a video" (sorry 944man) but I was lucky my son shot the footage on a go-pro then done the editing, so credit to him for something to show others and for us to keep for the future.

Oh yes I forgot to mention +33oC temperature's no aircon, 90+mph, windows fully down on leather seats for 6-8 hrs isn't the best comfort!!!!

Yes, my safety net was Carol Nash with full European breakdown and so nice to say never used too.

Now thats some going....haha but have you got a video ?
A bit of the Bernese Alps as we approached from France, but the digital camcorder was too heavy for the windscreen mount and it gave way after about 30mins.

Thats the good thing with technology and GoPro's my son have various mounts and speed doesn't prevent it either, like you I killed a Hi8 camcorder in -25oC in Lapland the new tech is really good now.

Id forgotten, my thumbnail was taken on the second morning in Stuttgart. We had a little trouble with ze Germans...
