Thomas's new site

Not sure about the JPS Thing though ... big improvement prices £££££££ thought I might have seen the old Minty on Sold Cars ....

Just slight off topic (sorry), on the "Sold Cars" page there is one car which Thomas identifies as "Viper Green" in the English version and "Signalgruen" in the German version - and, to be honest it looks more like Mint Green anyway. The image I have of a Signal Green car (look here) is nothing like the same colour and I haven't seen Viper Green listed as a standard colour for the 964 although it could, of course, be a special request. Any views??

Regards

Dave

But wasn't the official colour Signal Green ?

Where did Viper Green come from ?

Chris,

I have a feeling - and it's no more than that - that the colour names are often changed when translated. The change from Indischrot to Guards Red was obviously someone's conscious decision and I'm guessing that Signalgruen to Viper Green was another one.

Viper Green is a '73 RS colour (paint code 225), Signal Green (paint code 22S) turned up on the M series Carrera 2/4 in '91 (hence I think a couple of the Cup cars). Wasn't offered as a std RS colour and for the N series paint code was M1 - why, I have no idea!

Thanks Tony ! Viper Green sounds much more fun.

Mint of course is quite different, and almost blue to me !

I think it's too much of a coincidence that the colour codes are so similar - 225 and 22S could easily get confused. As Simon says, the two pictures appear to be the same car, it's just the lighting in Thomas's picture seems particularly misleading. The Gmund picture on my site is more faithful to the real colour I think.

Michael Stanley has a 1992 C2 in this colour and from what I remember it's pretty close to the picture I have. I think it's just Thomas's mistake to link the 2 colours. Signalgruen is Signal Green - period.
