Those little niggles again...

Managed to snatch a free couple of hours to wash the car (not had chance to wash or use it for the last couple of weeks) and tackle a couple of those niggles that most owners of 19yr old 911s always seem to have on a list somewhere!

  1. Took the manual locking knob and surround off the passenger door and generously lubricated the pivots and linkages within to try and resolve the intermittent locking issue I had with this door, when locking the car from the remote 'plipper'. RESULT!!! Car now locks first time, every time!
  2. Using a highly technical allen key (!), I carefully tightened up the teardrop mirror bases so as to eliminate the slight rock 'n roll evident when washing them!
Had a celebratory run to a much-further-away-than-strictly-necessary supermarket to clear the tubes and ended up parked next to a signal yellow Boxster.

Now, what else have i got on my niggle list....[8|]

Well...my niggle list just grew longer thanks to water to now leaking into the front boot. Took me ages to track it down. I took everything out; wheel, battery, trim, etc but despite pouring water over it and hosing it down could never reproduce the leak. As soon as it rained...it leaked again [&:]. So I dried it out again, waited for it to rain (didn't have to wait long [8|]) and ran outside and found water leaking through the join between the boot floor and the front tub. So that means another trip to the bodyshop [:-]

On the plus side I now know that my crackling radio and door locking niggles are related to my ongoing HVAC current drain problem. Unfortunately, I'm not much closer to solving the latter at the moment [&o]

I managed to replace the crappy original rear speakers for some much improved JBL 6x4" speakers at the weekend - also managed to modify the original speaker housings so I was able to keep the original mesh grilles.

Sound is much better now!

I need to remove the front undertray pieces (the 2 black ones attached to the front PU) as one is not engaged properly with the lower lip of the PU and the 'smile' needs straightening too, so I stuck the car up on ramps at the weekend, but it's now far too bloody cold in the garage to contemplate lying underneath it and removing the offending items!![8|]

Think I'll open a nice bottle of Brewdog's Punk IPA instead....[;)][:D]

Nick ,
Ever thought about using an electrically motivated air displacement device(fan heater) ,wear those "boss" racing mechanics overalls I gave you & refuse to be classified as a wimp.[:D]

I'd be too concerned about the impact of said device on my carbon footprint (unlike the 964...[:D]) and it was 4 degrees in the garage last night, so it wasn't a difficult decision to make tbh[8|][:D]
