hi i need help please!

i have managed to find a 996tt!

a silver 2002 turbo..with asero kit and black leather and alum pack

has 52k

went to see the car and was in good condition..tried to look for the c16 uk car at front of service book but nothing there??

does that mean its not a uk car?

it has had a service every 10k or so but there are no receipts with it..although i can check with the dealers..it was a royal bank of scotland car i believe..

he is going to replace front discs and pads as there was a wobble under heavy braking and the recnt report showed they were corroded..

so the deal is he gets the brake discs/pads replaced and gets me a full ppi from porsche leicester..as long as that is clear so i can put a warranty on it then ill give him £38k

ill have to pay £900 for the warranty..so total £39k with 12months warranty assuming ppi clear

a good deal??

all thougths welcome

btw it has 4 owners--should that worry me come resale time and the mileage??

or should i wait..

thanks

If it doesn't have C16 what does it have C98 (Cyprus)?

IMO as an import it's not cheap enough to be a good deal. It will have had a non-UK spec alarm (not Thatcham Cat 1) and tilt sensor (may have been rectified since) which may cause problems with your insurance. Does it come with full leather interior? (not all EU countries did). Does it have top screen tint? (not standard in EU), does it have a sunroof ?(as that was standard spec in the UK).

The number of owners is not a big problem as Porsche onwers tend to chop and change on average every 18 months.

A well specced C16 turbo with less mileage was asking £39k on Pistonheads recently

So IMO it's not a great deal, as with all imports, you buy cheap, you sell cheap, your insurance may be higher and your target market when you sell will be smaller too.
But as with everything, there is a price where it is worth it, I'd say that price was more like £36k

not stunning when you can get jasons on the members for sale section .more for less[:D]

I would do a bit more to confirm it is a C16 spec car if I were you. The numbers should be on the Vehicle Identification Label in the front of the Maintenance booklet, and on the underside of the luggage compartment. If they aren't there, you have to be suspicious. Has it had a front ender, and the bonnet replaced? Is it a dodgy Maintenance booklet? The Porsche 111-point check wouldn't involve lifting the luggage compartment lining to look for front end damage, so it won't help.

If you can get proof that it's C16, then personally I think it sounds like a reasonable buy. Otherwise, I would walk away. If you get the VIN, I could look it up for you.
