Throttle sticking on S2, any suggestions

All of a sudden my throttle pedal keeps sticking when pressed all the way down. It sticks for a few seconds then pops back up, its as if the return spring has weakend, I've shortened the spring a bit to see if that helps but its still doing it.

Its definately at the pedal end, has anyone else experienced this, any ideas on a good fix?

The only time I had the problem on mine was after jacking the car one time, luckily it jammed down in the garage in neutral (I think I remember someone saying they're prone to the floor giving slightly) - sorted it with a couple of hard taps on the floor with the wooden end of a club hammer just down by the throttle pedal. I think the pedal goes ever so slighty out of line and so jams.
 
I always use the jacking point in that corner just behind the front arch, surely that doesn't distort the floor enough to cause this problem??
 
If its the round cup type bit its not a jacking point and is not really a strong enough area to jack the car up.
 
Yup that's NOT the jacking point and the floor pan can distort if you raise the car on that one point only. It's one of the four points to lift the whole car on a ramp so the weight is spread easily.

The jacking point is half way down the sill and marked with a small diamond indentation.

Don't feel so bad - I'd guess 1/2 the members of the forum have done it - and the rest don't touch anything but the steering wheel!

So where can you jack the car from on a 944 with a trolley jack? I know the centre of the sill is the place to go from, but after an unfortunate incident (read outer sill caving in) with a mate's Silvia (His sills are shot though) I've always been super paranoid about a car being jacked up by the sills (that and only Pugs seem to have double skinned sills which don't bend etc. when a jack is put underneath them).
 
I know it isn't really good but if working on the sill I use the front chassis member with a 250mm length of wood and the rear torsion bar tube - inner end.

Chas, you're not actually jacking on the sill itself. There is a large donut behind it that is part of the chassis
