Tie Rod for PAS 1984 Car Help

Hi, my 944 just failed its MOT [:(] and it's because of the tie rod having excessive play on the ball joint between the rack and the tie rod (that and one of the ARB bush has completely disintegrated).

Is there an alternative OEM for this somewhere or is Porsche my only best bet for the part? I got the ARB bush part number (23mm version - debating whether to get polyurethane ones) Can anybody point me to the right part number for the tie rod?

found out its 944 347 033 20 for the PAS version. Just called Porsche and they are discontinued! :(

Anybody got any spares lying around? I just need it to pass an MOT and worry about sourcing a brand new part later. :)

I need the whole assembly rather than just the tie rod end. Cheers for the link

for some reason the first link redirects to the tie rod end. The link on the quote however works lol.

That is cheap! I'll just have a double check that it really fits my car :D

Update: The VW part is some 10mm shorter than the porsche part. So might have to stick with the lemforder.

That's a shame. I took the details from Waylander's original alternate part idea, but I see that's been edited so I guess it was wrong. [:)]

:p I'll put this on the "to research list" so that in the future I can search for cheaper alternatives.

Also, does anybody know if Lemforder or Moog is better than the other as an OEM supplier?

Porscheshop are £84.43 plus shipping. The German one is £41.25, so even with the higher postage it's better value.

Type 911 list them for the early cars at £82, Porscheshop only have one listed so don't know if it's for early or late models.

Rose Passion list them at 97 euros inc VAT.

i've found sks who listed the german part for £34 but are out of stock :(

I'm gonna buy from the german seller but for this weekend get a temporary tie rod to install so I can get it to pass its MOT.

Just installed the tie rod woop woop.

Small Q. How important is it to put a lock tab on the lip of the inner tie rod? Can I get away with just torquing it correctly and leave it be?

okidoki. Will make sure i do it right. :)

Also I have nyloc nuts on the other end rather than a pin lock on the original. Is this just as good?
