Time for new rears

I have had the GTS for a year now and the rears are looking tired, no pun intended. I have centre locks so I am guessing this is better handled at an OPC unless anyone can recommend a better route.
I see in the Porsche Post that a refund/discount of £50 for a pair can be had from Pirelli, do the OPC's offer this.

Ours doesn't as it is not a dedicated Pirelli Centre although they will fit the tyres.

As a matter of interest what mileage did you get? I managed 6000 then had to change the full set. I do track my car but consider this unacceptable as my Bridgestones lasted three times as long with the same driving pattern on my 997 Turbo.

Unfortunately when I had to replace the whole set last year only Pirelli's were available for the rears so I had to use them again.

If there is a Protyre near you they will do a decent job and are part of the Pirelli approved scheme. Worth a call to make sure they have the gear to handle centrelocks though....
PCs will be well equipped for the task, of course, but your £50 cashback will probably bring the price down to the Protyre full price[:)]
If you look Pirelli website link you can search the approved outlets which allow you to claim the cashback. My cheque arrived 28 days to the day after the purchase!

You really should go to the OPC to have those tyres changed, for starters they have the correct torque wrench (it needs 600Nm) to undo and tighten up the centre lock and they will be just as competitive plus they wont scratch your rims getting the tyres off. As for the cash back it's very simple you get the receipt and then upload a copy to Pirelli follow this link www.pirelli.co.uk/porscheclubgb I did this with my GTS and got the the cheque back within 3 weeks.

Thanks for the advice guys, I think I will probably go with the OPC if they are reasonably competitive price wise, I guess that means list price with Porsche!

Tyres are the one thing my PC can never get close to matching on price, even with club discount. Good luck with yours! However, in the grand scheme of Porsche ownership, what's another £100?

They buy tyres from a Porsche GB mandated supplier and so supplier margin + Porsche GB commission + PC margin = not competitive. Out PC will fit owner supplied tyres for £40 a set of 4.

The 2x Pirelli P Zeros size 305/30 ZR20 that I had fitted by my OPC cost £581 less the £50 cash back so £530.

Protyre are selling them for £262 so with the £50 off a pair would be £474. Depends how keen the OP is to save £56 -if his PC can match the price of yours!
Like Ralph I get mine online and get the PC to fit them - but I don't have Pirelli anyway.

I once had a BMW 330 and on the recommendation of a friend I took it to Protyre Cheltenham instead of Dick Lovett result was a saving on £50 and two damaged wheels resulting in the repainting of the rims.
Never again will I do that.

The problem here is that the focus is on cost and not value, and frankly if it's all about trying to save a few ££ to replace the tyres on a £100k car why bother? So if the saving is £56 when bought on line, then get them fitted by the OPC and pay £40 so now the saving is £16. That's not even the cost of 4 pints or a couple of reasonable bottles of wine , pathetic??

I agree and it's about finding someone you trust to do the job. Not all PCs will do a good job in the same way not all Protyre or any other tyre place will. Funny thing that tyres and insurance seem to bring out the endless search for saving a few quid. That wouldn't buy one reasonable bottle of wine either.....[;)]
