Time from build slot to delivery

Hi guys

Can someone please tell me the approximate time it takes between a build slot and when you actually get the car?

Many thanks

From my experience 4-5 weeks:

2 weeks to build it in the factory
2 weeks to delivery it from Germany
1 week at the dealer to prep and register etc....

Best delivery time I've ever had was with my Cayman. Build day 10th, parked on the drive by the 27th of the same month![;)]

My OPC seems to think that they can get a new car ready to drive away 1 week after it's built.

17 days though to build/ship/register, that's quick!

My experience (997TT) is build completed on 2 June 2007, a Saturday, (what they refer to as stage 8 which I am told is the quality control check as it comes out of the factory door). Arrival at OPC 18 June (i.e. 16 days later, but I am told it can be 14 days depending on whether it starts or finishes its journey on a weekend). My last car - 997 4S - took 14 days to arrive at the OPC and so I would say 13 to 17 days is realistic. It then depends on how busy your OPC is; they can turn car around in a day, but 2 days is more likely. Apparantly the Porsche tracker system takes some time to fit. Anyway, picking my turbo up tomorrow. Its just like Christmas when you were a child.......

Forgot to ask - are you sticking with the OPC you left your deposit with? I can ask my OPC about likely build slots if you like (just before I hand over the cash for mine which should at least get me an answer).

Hi Keith

Yes, decided today to just stick with my current OPC with an Apr 08 build slot. The condition though is that they try to retain me an earlier slot should one come up. I have told them that if I haven't got a revised slot by christmas or early next year then I will cancel my order.

Always willing to entertain other OPCs though if they can get me something Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb [:D]

The problem is the time it takes from completion to get to port, wait around to get shipped, wait around at port for a transporter - this always seems a bit hit and miss. I don't think any OPC can guarantee this or even give you a clear indication even at the time. It's down to timing luck.
