Today 240 mile round trip to Brighton with the roof out, only saw one other 44 a blue Cab near Chelmsford, I suppose they were all at Gaydon.

Yesterday took a trip to OPC to order some new bits, fitted the new tailgate locking pins I've had sitting around for a couple of months and then 4hrs cleaning.

Does your/did your 944 recently have an area on the right rear sill repaired or in red primer?
I spotted a black 944 with the same wheels in the Colchester area that had such an area on the sill. It was on the driveway of a house. Sorry I can't be more specific, even pinning down Colchester is a stretch as I seem to be working all over Essex at the moment!

Drove it briskly and realised what a superb vehicle they are [8D]
Afternoon.....................
Sold it [&o][&o]
Were you happy with the price? And did it go to somebody in the club?

I also pitched it at £6K as when I was looking a few years ago it seems to me to be the nominal (psychological) ceiling for these cars unless they have attributes like perfick bodywork and interior and impeccable history etc
I personally believe it was pitched at the right price as I know that you cannot recoup all the extras, in fact the aftermarket KW put some people off a bit as they know 944`s but think its a chav thing and were remarkably suspicious of it (in particular worrying how many miles the KW had done [&o][&o]) and think that standard Mo30 is Gods answer to cornering, ho hum.
The very nice chap thats bought it previously had a circa 500 bhp Ultima GTR and having sold it and got the 944 wants to put a 400ish bhp LS1 in it [8|] so wanted a mechanically sorted car. I told him to keep me updated etc when he does it as I`m sure we`ll all be interested. Apparently they are £4000 brand new out of the crate plus fitting and with GM`s problems probably even cheaper now.

Interesting comments there, especially the bit about it getting an LS1 engine. I always promised myself that if I won the lottery I would ship my car to Renegade Hybrids in the USA and get this exact conversion done. Only for the benefit of the forum members you understand[
Also eye opening to hear that people are still focusing down onto the perceived benefits of "originality" when it comes to our cars. This will bode well for me when I eventually come to sell due to my recently fitted totally standard Porsche dampers, even though I personally would have far prefered to fit KWv3 (but didn't want to get into a re-indexing dilemma)
Anyway great news that you got the full asking price.
Cheers

Excellent - that's an extra £100 on my Ebay reserve for the M030 when I one day fit KW's [
Glad to hear you sold it quickly and painlessly Paul

I believe he has researced this a great deal and mentioned that from renegade hybrids he got the idea. The LS1 is about the same weight as the 944T engine so I would imagine the main (nasty) bits are engine to bell housing, engine mounts and exhaust but not insurmountable.

Not got ALL the cash yet Paul but thank you for your kind comment. Going back on the KW................I was really surprised when I had questions like have you still got the original mo30 as I might want to change it back [8|] I would genuinely say to you, I would highly recommend you keep the original mo30 so as to sell with the car there are people who will want original cars.

It`s happened to me many many times and I`ve spoken to many many car and bike enthusiasts over the years and the the best way I can describe driving something with real soul and character that may kill you is that we (seriously) all talk about "we have to have a pee before going out in it and just as you`re all harnessed up you need another one"
Anyone that drives or has driven such car knows what I`m on about.
The 944 doesnt do that to me I`m afraid.

Paul- you'd better get rid of that ridiculously non-standard 3.2 lump as well - that really does knock the resale value [

Without sounding flippant or extravagant I really couldnt be *rsed to be honest. I nearly sold it two years ago as I hated its lack of poise on the road (and track) on the old Mo30 but decided after driving Fen`s car to upgrade to KWV3 and w/m ARB`s. As you know it transformed the car and it was a superb way to cross country but its still a bit boring for me and on the few track days I`ve done its not the car for me as its ponderous and heavy as I like sub 900kg cars. Dont get me wrong, I liked the car and thoroughly enjoyed it but it has no soul. It is quiet, efficient etc got all the bells and whistles but doesnt frighten you or assault your senses.

I know exactly what you mean. I've had three TVRs in the past and they have so much more character compared to any Porsche. There is of course also the down sides of owning such cars such as err, reliability [
