Time To Sell?

HI All

Not been on here for a while. Been busy playing at the Ring in my Skyline R32 GTR. Not a porsche in any way shape or form, but damn good fun anyway.

Been considering selling my 964 C2 for some time now as the wife doesn't like driving quickly and the VW Camper vans suit that criteria perfectly.

It is a 90' C2 with black leather interior. All standard and in almost immaculate condition. I have had it for nearly 3 years now and added a bit to the mileage. It is now 122k. Good service history and newish MOT and tax. It has had 2 incidents, one where I clipped a kerb and had lots of the rear suspension renewed (cost almost £8k) and another when a woman drove into the rear bumper and it needed to be replaced (cost about £2k). Also had orange indicators fitted, to replace the clear ones, fully polished and permaguard covered, loads of little things, like we all do ...

I have a friend who wants to buy it, but don't know what to ask. What do you think?

Would appreciate your comments.

Sounds about right to me as well. Would be happy with that. After all, it is what I paid for it. LOL.

I would say £14k-£16k for a private sale. Depends on the condition.

If the engine had a top end done etc - I would add a coupe of K.

No, he is stuck with too many cars at the moment (he has a TVR, an audi S4 and an early beemer M3) and is short of cash. I used the car a bit more over the last month and remember just why porsches are so good.

You interested? Might still sell as I also have too many cars on the drive, it's six or seven at the moment.

Is it cheap and nice? I'm interested, my only problem is that I'm seeing so much offer recently that I'm starting to feel completely lost... In anycase I would appreciate if you tell me a little bit more about it.

Thanks for your help,

Fernando

It is very nice. Black with linen leather. Lowish mileage (less than 100K I think). I wouldn't describe it as cheap. I don't know the owner's current thinking on what he's willing to sell for but recall him mentioning somewhere around £15K. The owner is a PCGB member. I'll get him to pop along to this thread.

p.s. Sorry TJW for the hijack [:D]

As Steve say, Black, Linen leather, right hand drive, a/c, rear wash wipe, and pretty much as you see in the pictures. Black 64s aren't that common - so rare or unpopular depending on whether you like it or not.

Mileage is 101,000, fair bit of history with it - I've owned it for around 2 years, and I've done about 5 miles in it since January, so really the car could do with a better home (although its garaged!).

Get in touch via pm / whatever if you'd like to know more - I'm Manchester-ish, about 15 minutes from Steve.

Kind regards,

Fraser.

ps - price £14,500 ono

Aaaah great memories. The first time I ever stepped inside a 964 is when Fraser took me out in that car. The rest is history [:)]

Hi Steve,

Very nice indeed... problem is that I have lowered a little bit my budget, so either I save more money or try to find a cheaper one.
Thanks

Are prices going up then? I bought mine ('90 Targa) a year ago, it had a top end rebuild 5,000 before I bought it, VGC for under 13.5K. The consensus here seems to be that a year later, a similar age VGC car with an engine rebuilt is worth £16K-£18K ?
If that's true, I could be selling soon!

I have just had a quick national scour of Autotrader and I would say that compared to when I was looking to buy just over 2 years ago, that there are less good 964s for sale now than there was then. Back then the average private sale price for a good one in my estimation was about £14K. Now it looks to be closer to £15K. Also back then my boxster was worth a little more than I paid for the 964. Now I believe my 964 looks to be worth at least £4K more than what I would get for the box if I tried to sell it!

Of course this is all academic because I've no intention of selling either [:)]

Indeed - I also have grown too fond of Helga to sell it, but it is interesting to see that in the middle of the 'credit crunch', these old beauties seem to appreciate.

Take care,

seg

Talking to someone in the trade they told me the TRADE price for a good 964 is £10k-£12k and solid. And good ones are getting rarer!

An entry level Boxster is £8k-£9k.

993 prices are more solid then 964's and going up.

Air-cooled rules!

PS I am hoping my GT3 will be an exception!!!

Trevor is your's still for sale? If so, there have been a few enquiries on 911UK for 964s so I'll point them in your direction if it is?
