Hello all,

Did a spirited launch from the lights yesterday (been away from the UK and the car for 3 months so just reaquainting myself with the buzz) and the "tiptronic emergency run" kicked in. Stopped the car, turned it off, restarted and the fault warning cleared. I was 121 miles from home and drove it back gingerly without further mishap.

Anyone had the same. I will get it to Paragon to check it out but I thought I might ask if anyone had this and what did it turn out to be?

Welcome back Ron!

I can get that to happen if I move the stick VERY slowly between P and N. It resets immediately though, without switching on and off. Unlikely to be your problem though.

It will have stored an error code, which will stay in the fault memory for a while. If the problem doesn't re-occur the fault register will clear by itself after a few driving cycles.

If the car goes in to the emergency driving program, it won't do any harm to the gearbox. It is caused by an electrical or electronic problem. Hopefully it was just a glitch, and won't come back.

Not a glitch but oil p**sing out from somewhere at the back of the box. Won't know what it is until the underside is washed off, topped up and the leak identified. Oh and for good measure I got a puncture on the way to Paragon!! So two new tyres on the rear. The only crumb of comfort is the tyres were up for replacing.

Oh dear. Sorry to hear that Ron. When you say the back of the box, I guess you mean the opposite end to the engine. With luck, it will just be the oil seal where the front prop shaft comes out the transfer box. That's quite common. I had a weep from a gasket when I bought mine, and it was a bit of a nightmare getting the gaskets. Porsche don't sell them, but we managed to find the parts at the Mercedes dealer.

Not so lucky Richard - Leaking oil cooler it appears -£500 +VAT ouch!!!
The Divorce hearing starts soon as not only looking at £1k with 2 new tyres on top. I ran up a £985 electric bill heating my garage (my car) whilst in NYC. Forgot to to tell her about the heaters. Oops. I don't know? you can't live with em and It looks like I won't be. Still I will always have my Porsche and that's what really matters.....
