TIPTRONIC GEAR SHIFTER QUESTION

Guest

Had a problem with the gear shifter not budging which has been diagnosed as a faulty spring in the selector button on the shifter. However to replace same Porsche just offer the complete shifter a la 996 £600!

We will try and work round this, however my question is: Should the outer shroud on the shifter be lifted up in the Park position and why? Should it move at all or just stay static?

Thanking you all in anticipation.

Thoroughly enjoying the 993 otherwise.[:)]

I have had the same problem with my shifter on my boxster tip. It sticks in Park(badly), and sticks in Neutral (moderately). I took it to my local OPC, they replaced some bushes, it worked for a while, then back to the same problems. They said the next step would be to replace the DME at £250, but even then it might not work.

Anyway, as a short term solution, I get it out of Park by inserting the ignition key and turning it slowly as I depress the tip selector button, whereupon it will fully depress allowing you to move the lever.

Do keep me in touch though, i would loike to know what the final damage is likely to cost me!

Thanks for that Rodney will keep you posted.......still would like a reply to:
