A known weakness of the tip selector plate is the cranked actuator arm on the microswitch that selects manual mode on the selector plate - it breaks, the car is fully driveable in full auto but not in manual. From the 968uk forum I know of 5 such failures - including my coupe about 5 years ago!
The only "cure" available from Porsche is a full selector plate at about £300, plus at least an hour's fitting and adjusting - an expensive cure. I am in contact with the original manufacturer of the microswitch and selector plate (a company called Kissling in Germany), it appears we may be able to order some microswitches - but a minimum order of 14, and as the order has to come from a company I am hoping to persuade K300 to order them. Indicative price appears to be about 25Euros per microswitch.
If you have a spare microswitch and this failure occurs, it is quite easy to access the microswitch to remove and replace the actuator arm - a cheap 30 minute fix!
Any 968 tip owners on here wish to help get to the required minimum order?
