Just come back from Porsche Sheffield service clinic and a good bill of health delivered except for a slightly weeping tiptronic sump gasket. You can see a large rubber gasket around it and it doesn't look too difficult to do a diy replacement. Anyone done one? Any advice? I know topping up the fluid level is a bit temperature sensitive so might be fun to refill, but could get a garage to check it.

I've a 2004 C4 Tip S

The manual says:

Removing ATF filter
1. Remove underbody panels, rear and centre.
2. Remove cross member.
3. Disengage cable on the retaining clips of the ATF pan.
4. Place oil collection pan under the transmission.
5. Unscrew drain screw and drain ATF.

Without ATF, the engine must not be started and the vehicle must not be towed.
6. Remove ATF pan (loosen screws crosswise).
7. Remove ATF filter.

Installing ATF filter
1. Thinly coat gasket on the suction collar of the new ATF filter with Vaseline and install filter.
2. Clean ATF pan.
3. Fit ATF pan with new seal. Tighten the screws crosswise in several stages. Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
4. Replace sealing ring for ATF drain plug and tighten screw. Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
5. Fill in ATF.
6. Engage cable on the retaining clips of the ATF pan.
7. Install cross member. Tightening torque: 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)
8. Install rear underside panel.

Tightening torques
Drain plug on ATF pan - M10 - 20Nm (15 ftlb.)
Control screw on ATF pan - M10 - 20Nm (15 ftlb.)
ATF pan to transmission - M6 - 8Nm (6 ftlb.)
Transmission cross member to body - M10 - 65 (48 ftlb.)

If I were you, I would measure the amount of fluid in the drain pan, and refill with the same amount of new fluid, and top up afterwards if necessary. (Specs in the Technical Articles section). I would also change the filter while you are doing it.

Filter part no: 722.277.009.5 (£43.21)
Gasket: 140.271.008.0 (£13.36)
Sealing Rings (2 required) 900.123.062.20 (£2.40 each)
