This might have been done before but what are the thoughts of tiptronic v's manual. I do like autos i have one in my Discovery, but is it a big thing in a 964 will you not get the same driving experience. Should i dismiss a tiptronic in favour of a manual?

its a very early tip so will not have so many gears as later tips-so will sap power use juice even more than later ones...plus ot so flexible etc etc (imho)

As fas as I know the 964 Tiptronic only ever had four forward gears (just in case any smartarrses are reading this), Five gears came with the 993.
As you can see from my signature I have one of the beasts. Before you dismiss the tiptronic take one for a ride, if possible both on the open road and in traffic in town. Your left leg will thank you for it.
Cheers,

Hi All

Whilst I agree that the 964 Tip gives the average driver a feeling of "something missing" I had the pleasure of a passenger ride with a factory driver at the Weissach test track in a tiptronic, he showed just what it could do, which was somewhat awe inspiring. However I believe it is a matter of taste for the majority 911 drivers.

Let us know which way you go.

Have fun
