tired of tyres?

Jacob

New member
The time has come where I need to change all 4 rubbers. I have always used continental contisport. I'm tempted to try something different (Goodyear Eagle F1)
Any opinions - good, bad or indifferent.
Any other suggestions?

Do the tyres really need to be N rated? or has technology moved on so much over the last 15 years that it is nice to have rather than a need to have.

Michelin Pilots for me, but I have run non N rated tyres for a while and they were fine for everyday driving.

Cheers Glenn

I had Eagle F1s on my 3.2 and they were a dramatic improvement on the N rated Goodyears the car came with. Especially good in the wet.

Thanks guys - lots to go on here. Particularly from Richards link....... information overload[:)]

Hi Jacob,

Had trouble getting through a reply, problem with the forum. Anyway better later than never.

I changed my 4 tyres about 2 years ago (3.2 Dec. 88). I went for a set of Dunlop SP9000. I have been using this tyre for many years on different type of cars, front wheel drive, 4 wheel drive. Also a friend of mine rear wheel drive with over 330 bhp, he was over the moon.

Anyway I think that this tyre really improves the handling of the 911 3.2. The car seems more "altogether" in the bends. In the wet these Dunlops are great. My 911 had Pirellis P700S when I bought it, not very nice to say the least.

Always difficult to recommend tyres.

Best regards
Salvador

I ended up with a set of Falken FK451's. These were very reasonably priced at £240 from mytyres.co.uk.

I went out for a blast on Sunday, but wouldn't be able to give an accurate opinion of how they compare to continental. The roads in the main were a bit 'greasey' so I had a few loss of grip moments, but I would put that down to the roads rather than the tyres.

Well, i had an offer of £370 for a full fitted set of SOs, which were great on the TVR, but they have been out of production for two years now and I worry whether I will still be able to find just two new rears in say 6 months time, so...

I have just ordered a set of Goodyear Eagle F1s @ £350 to be fitted on Saturday [:)]
