to change or not to change?

I currently have a 2001 c4 cab, with 41000 miles on the clock which i've had for 18 months. I am about to have a sports exhaust fitted, but have spotted a 2003 c4 cab at a dealer in solihull. This has 20000 miles on the clock and the 3.6 engine.
I stand to lose about 14k in 18 months if i decided to change (more than i lost on my tvr! although you never win with cars) Question is will the 3.6 engine be a better drive than my current 3.4? Have to say i really like current car or will do with the sportier exhaust. Any views welcome thanks

You will be lucky to nitice ANY difference at all. I drove a 3.6 for a weekend and am still convinced mine was faster across all speeds. Some will say thats rubbish-but I honestly couldnt tell. So because of that the only thing I will be changing mine for is a GT3 or Turbo. No point changing for another Carrera as I have one and at least with the one I have I know that it is all OK. Imagine you swapping and getting a right lemon!

I assume your current drive is pre-facelift (3.4 engine, plastic rear screen)...

I'm sure the 2003 Cab will be a better car - glass rear screen, better engine, glovebox, better looking front / rear end - but is it £14k nicer? I don't think so...

Also, has the 2003 Cab got PSE, if not, your 2001 will sound a whole load better!

Personally, (and I drive a 2000 C4 Cab), I'd wait at least another 12 months before upgrading.

If I were u I wouldn't bother. Although the rear screen is heated it's smaller than the plastic screen so visibility is worse. I've never used the glovebox. Cupholders....on a Porsche!? [:'(]

Small things like the electronic boot/engine lid openers, and 3 spoke steering wheel are ok. The car does have Variocam Plus, which is supposed to give more torque lower down the curve with smoother power delivery, and the car is supposed to be 10% stiffer.....but can u really notice these differences....and at 14k more?

As has been said before, keep your money for a turbo or GT3, and definately get a sports exhaust right away!

Yes its a pre facelift but a good car, and on the whole i think i agree that 14k is a lot to change, If the 3.6 won't give me much better than i have (it does have a pse fitted) then i think i'm probably going to stick with current car and go ahead with the pse.
thanks for the help
