To GT3 or not to GT3....

That is the question (sorry could not resist!).

I was going to replace the front bumper with an OE GT3 front end and replace the alloys (not going for the spoiler). However, I'm not so sure I want to now. It seems that there are so many early 996's with the GT3 kit on it's becoming more common than not having one!

I like the look of my 996, and now I am in two minds whether to bother with sourcing the kit or not?

Opinions?

Thanks for the reply, I'm not a huge fan of the rear wing either, I like the smooth look, but I do like the split rim style alloys and the front bumper.

I'm just in two minds whether to change the car or keep it factory.

I wouldn't do it but that's just my taste.. ;-)

I agree the split rims look good, had them on my previous car, but they are hell to keep clean. Now I got the Turbo twists and it's soooo easy to clean them. [:)]

Anyway the split rims (sport designs) were an option for the Carrera so you'd still be "factory true".

Come on guys....the rear spoiler is a must. When added with the full kit it looks the bees knees. Wouldnt buy one without it. You would also have to question as to why you would want to create a car which would fit neither the standard look or the GT3 look. As far as the comment....looks like a Subaru....come on!
Anyway...I also have split rims but i would advise stearing away from these as they are a nightmare to refurbish and many refurbished jobs do not last. Too many areas for water to get into.
Good luck with your decision anyway, but don't dis the GT3 look!!!

I think it is the alloys that really set the look off, so perhaps keep what I have and go for those?

I wasn't saying I don't like the look of the GT3, I really like it, I just like the smooth lines of the back without it :)

I'm a little confused though as my alloys really suit the car - think I need to sleep on it :)

The GT3 is a beautiful looking car, perhaps more beautiful but the standard 996 is also a beautiful car its smooth look is beautiful in a whole different way.

In my humble opinion I think dressing it up with gt3 paraphernalia is unnecessary. Love it for what it is and if you really want a car that looks like the gt3 save your pennies and buy one.. then you get the engine too![:D]

IMO do whatever you like. There are quite a few GT3 kitted cars out there because people like the look of them. I wouldn't worry about resales problems as a result.

There are so many standard 996s - some people want their cars to look different. Add up what it will all cost you ato do it, and if you think it's still something that you like then go for it.

+1 for the GT3 look, especially the rear spolier, really sets the car off, and helps it stick to the road

Well, I'm still undecided! Think I will just carry on tidying up a few little bits and see what I think after.....

Cheers,

I have a car with the GT3 aero kit..if I were you I would concentrate on the front rather than the back. I have lost count of the number of times I have scraped the 'rubbing strip' on quite slight inclines..and if I had a penny for the number of speed bumps I have seen that would be impossible to drive over..
