To skim or replace discs?

Mr MOT Man, for the third year running, has "advised" about my pitted brake discs.

I don't think they've been skimmed before - will skimming remove the pitting on both faces or should I replace them?

They are turbo discs with the big reds - any suggestions for supplier?

Cheers

Have a chat with Craig at GT1 in Chertsy 01932 569911/944 -they have machine to skim both sides of the disc whilst it is on the car -provided that the disc is within limits.

Agreed. My local indie, Autostrasse, did mine last year to cure lumpy braking due rust buildup (my fault in not drying them properly after wetting).
Cost £45 per wheel and they reckon the discs could stand three skims before renewal.

Can't offer any suggestions as to skimming/replacing BUT as it happens I have a spare pair of brand new (in genuine Porsche boxes) turbo discs that I bought from Gert to put on an RS2 and didn't need. They were cheaper than UK sourced discs to start with and I need t move them on since unlikely to need them now. drop me an email if you want.

And of course I think replacing would be better than skimming...

Regards

Michael
