this has been a week without my car and counting.......

anyway, i want to know;

1) can i connect the indicator wires to the hazard switch? i've tried and failed (but i didn't connect a critical wire!) so i think i'll have to go to the indicator stalk. are the wires on the indicator swich black/green and black/white?

and how do i take the horn off the steering wheel, just yank it off, or can i access the wires by removeing the trim around the dash?

i have +12v switched indicators don't i?

2) where's the easyest place on the car to get a +12v and an earth with the door open, and what colour are the wires? i have a spdt relay ready!

3) where's the easyest place on the car to get an earth with the boot open, and what colour is the wire? is the boot light seperate to the door light circuit, or am i likely to need a seperate pin switch?

4) central locking. do i have single wire locking? i have a button on the centre console. i have one wire (out of four) on the connector that locks the car when given earth. to unlock the car i give the same wire earth, but i also need the iggnition on.

the iggnition will not be on when i unlock the car from outside, so what do i do?

it says one wire is relay side of cut control wire, and another is door side of cut control wire.

should i cut the wire and put one end on one alarm wire, and the other on the other alarm wire? will it stop my button working?

Will reply in more detail tomorrow, but have you fitted a car alarm before? I don;t want to be rude, but some of your questions suggest you haven't. This isn't necessarily a problem (everyone has to do their first one sometime), but a good grounding (see what I did there?!?) in electrics and a bit of electronics is a good starting point ...

i've put an older version of the same alarm in a sierra and capri.

it came with a piece of paper with the car wire colour/position on.

btw is the 944 a vacuum c/l system?

- Don't know about the colours, but you can connect to the relevant coloured wire at any point. Indicator switch or hazard light switch.

and how do i take the horn off the steering wheel, just yank it off, or can i access the wires by removeing the trim around the dash?

- Just yank it off. Firm pull. You won't break it - don't worry.

i have +12v switched indicators don't i?

- Can't remember. Test with a multimeter or look at a wiring diagram.

2) where's the easyest place on the car to get a +12v and an earth with the door open, and what colour are the wires? i have a spdt relay ready!

- From the bottom of the fuse box, above the passenger footwell.

3) where's the easyest place on the car to get an earth with the boot open, and what colour is the wire? is the boot light seperate to the door light circuit, or am i likely to need a seperate pin switch?

- Earth with the boot open? Don't understand what you are asking. Lighting circuit is the same for the front and boot lights.

4) central locking. do i have single wire locking? i have a button on the centre console. i have one wire (out of four) on the connector that locks the car when given earth. to unlock the car i give the same wire earth, but i also need the iggnition on.

- Two wires, one locks the car when earthed, the other unlocks it. Central locking control unit is well hidden at the bottom of the steering column, and will take some finding.

the iggnition will not be on when i unlock the car from outside, so what do i do?

it says one wire is relay side of cut control wire, and another is door side of cut control wire.

should i cut the wire and put one end on one alarm wire, and the other on the other alarm wire? will it stop my button working?

- Read the instructions carefully. I can't remember, but you can work it out from the instructions if you know what you are doing ...

Electric central locking on all 944's I believe.

Really, you need to know what you are doing before you go fitting an alarm like this. If in doubt, ask someone else to do it for you. A badly fitted alarm will make your car (very) unreliable and may be a security liability. It will also not count for insurance until you have it inspected and a certificate written out.

it says one wire is relay side of cut control wire, and another is door side of cut control wire.

is for if it is single wire locking. there is also a choice for vacuum lock, +ve lock, -ve lock, and two others.

I fitted an alarm to mine years ago, the central locking I switched from the wiring at the module clipped to the steering column as its live at all times (although mine was fried so I used the alarm to power the locks open and closed).

The workshop wiring diagram is essential, also the cenral locking trouble shooting guide helps to decipher what should do what.
Goes without saying but be very careful, very easy to melt the loom if you make an error.

Can't help with the indicators as I only really connected the locks, interior light and boot release switch (through a relay).

indicators can be done via the hazard switch, c/l is done (its -ve switch), i've got to drill a boot light switch, fit the ultra sonics (is the a-frame trim held on with glue under the three screws?), and i've got to mount the unit.

My ultrasonic sensors were fitted into the rear panel towards the top above the speaker seems a good place easy to route cables to and ready to sense any rear or front window being smashed.
