Today I have been mostly... & alarm question

Today I have been mosty giving the Turbo some much needed TLC.

I have chased and cut most of the unnecessary wiring back to the main loom with only about 18 inches left to get right back to the fuse box and have it all removed properly. I also bought it a battery primarily so I could check which wiring was for the sunroof since that's staying for now. It's very tidy behind the centre console with only stereo and sunroof wiring there, although for some reason the headlight height adjuster is a subtly different shape to the other switches so I'll have to butcher a blank to make it fit the hole.

With the console back in the the car now looks much better and you could almost believe it isn't being broken for spares again.

The passenger footwell is scary though; loads of wiring for a standard alarm and a Scorpion one. The standard one seems to plug in - will the car work if I just unplug it and take it away? Also there is a square black box about 6" on a side and 2" thick with no markings that had a brown cable running to the back of the car plugged into it. The far end wasn't connected to anything so I took it off, but the box is still in the wiring. I took the lid off and it had a small board inside and something about "relay" on it. Any ideas what it is?
