I recall being very underwhelmed by a Noble even though I couldn't doubt the car's competence.
I just didn't fit it ...
'Cross between a Lotus and Porsche Cup level engineering, but from a clean sheet ?
i.e. The engine doesn't need to be at the back ... [] ...etc.??

It is an amazing car and bearing in mind that it is one of the prototypes, the quality should be making Ferrari quake in its boots. As for fitting in, Chris, my colleague is 6'2" and he got in ok, if a bit ungainly.

The technology would make the Noble look like an Airfix kit. It has a carbon "monocell" which weighs less than 85 kg - the production manager and I picked it up like it was just a big cardboard box. It has a gearbox based very heavily on the F1 box (including a rocker paddle system for gear changes); they bought an engine manufacturer in the states because they liked the small size of their 3.8 l V8, then re-engineered the whole thing to incorporate a flat plane crank and twin, variable vane turbos. Once they had designed and built the first prototype, the engineers were told to go away and lose 5% of the weight from every component.
This is one hell of a car and every one will be hand assembled, tested in an environmental chamber and rolling road (to eliminate any leaks, rattles or squeaks) before being painted. Then shaken down, adjusted, corner weighted, cleaned and inspected before being shipped.
They won't state the power, but based on the 997 Turbo, I would imagine it will be somewhere just under 600 hp and it revs to 8,500 with most of the torque available from less than 3,000 revs.
