Well ok maybe 10 ,but today i suddenly decided the wheels were annoying me (the anoyance list is long tbh )
So 1 can of Halfords satin black spray paint , last weeks sunday telegraph some masking tape and a finishing pad .
1st how the looked , tired ,faded and slightly touched up , but the rims in fairly good condition.

first job was to give them the once over with a halfords finishing sponge ,(kinda wet and dry on a thin sponge)

making sure to give those bits of hamerite touch up a good rub down
next and the most important bit masking up , the fronts are easier than the backs due to the nice edge to knife up to , however its not hard with some patience (yeh my other half thinks i have none as well)

then its just a case of waving the can about over the wheel and leaving to dry after each coat , which i stuck about 6 on , then remove the masking and hey presto not a bad effort .

the white specs are on my camera not the wheel as my nikons not back from repair

Hi,
An excelent piece of work, well done! and what a difference the final job looks.

Are you going to do the centre caps too? Use Mr Muscle oven cleaner (coat and leave for about 20 mins) to remove the faded anodising first.

Its really easy. The anodised finish comes off easily. I gave mine a coat of etch primer first and was really pleased with the finish. It would be a shame to have faded caps when you've done such a good job with the rest of the wheels...

Hi Guy's, just a quick one having already done my wheels like this with the halfords black, what is the best way of polishing the outer of the rims to a mirror finish, have tried the usual cleaners but nothing appears to work that well.

Cheers Baz

On my old SC, the Fuchs rims were dirty after many years, so I used Autosol (a brand of metal polish) on them and, with a bit of hard work whilst at a show one sunny day, they were transformed to a fantastic shiny finish "" kept like it too "" you don't have to keep reapplying it, just wash as usual (getting the brake dust off) and dry them[;)] very pleasing. I'm not sure if this can be used on anodised finished rims, though.
