Tony and Harriet

Elaine and I would like to extend a huge thank you to Harriet and Tony for all the hard work they put in as RO's. We personally feel very sad they have resigned not only as RO's but from National Concours and Open Sundays at Cornbury House. They will be a very hard act to follow. We wish them all the best for the future and hope they will, in the fullness of time, come to club nights and other events.

Yes come on back - its a great club (you know that) and you helped make it great - come on back!

Today is 1st May and our resignation as Regional Organisers comes into effect. Elaine and Stuart are taking charge of the region and, of course, we wish them every success and good luck. We will give them any help and assistance they may need in taking on their new role.

We have received flowers, post, many emails, and messages on the forum mostly calling for us to come back into the fold. We have not taken our decisions to resign from all the various club activities lightly and this has caused us much reflection and sadness.

I have been a Regional Organiser jointly with Tony for some 10 years, run the National Concours and brought it back as one of the successful aspects the club, not an easy task. In addition to this for some years, we travelled up every first Sunday of the month to Cornbury House organised events there, looked after members and very importantly were entrusted with Cornbury House. Needless to mention all the other aspects I took on such as shopping, going from town to town to get the best prices/deals, cooking, etc, etc, all too numerous for me to remember. My latest duties were on the board as a Director. I did not resign from all of this without a lot of thought and heartache.

The present board of directors have certainly caused offence by ignoring us in the May edition of Porsche both in Boardtalk and the lack of any report whatsoever by the Regional Director, it is as if we had not existed! To say there was no time is not acceptable since they managed to alter copy to present the new board. In addition to ourselves, we note that other Regional Organisers have also resigned, namely Mavis Ives (R31) and Ian Foster (R14) and they also appear to have been ignored.

This is all a very sad state of affairs and we have no wish and cannot return at the present time.

Harriet, whatever happened in the past, now is not the time to criticise the new Board. Many Club members have posted favourable comments on your behalf. I for one acknowledge the significant contribution that you and Tony have made to Porsche Club Great Britain. You love your Porsches and have gained much pleasure from our Club. So forget the past, shake hands with the new team and enjoy the future.

Anybody can resign for any sort of reason.

For 4 Directors to resign on the eve of a big weekend of WC & AGM was viscous and wanting to do the club harm.

Thank goodness that 2 Directors were able to manage and Paul Seagrave, confirmed as Regional Director, was exemplary in rising to the occasion.
The new board have many members volunteering their expertise and the feeling of bonhomie at the AGM a most welcome change in atmosphere.
Long live the new board.

For 4 Directors to resign on the eve of a big weekend

I think most of us would agree that only three of them were really Directors. The co-option of John Arnold seems to have been both wrongly-timed and wrongly-motivated, and it sounds strange to say he had the right to "resign", as if it was his choice. He would not have been ratified given the circumstances and his few poorly-worded comments here, IMO.

Not sure this is the right thread to discuss it though, as I feel Harriet and Ken were largely victims of other people's fallout and I certainly don't blame them for standing down. It's a miracle they stayed as long as they did, under the circumstances!

Plus one!

Harriet.
It is unfair of you to critisise the new board for not making a statement about you in May Porsche Post.
(1) They were/are busy picking up the pieces left by three Directors who resigned and dropped us, the membership in the muck.
(2) There hasn't been time before the deadline for the May Porsche.
(3) Mavis resigned three weeks earlier and no fuss was made. Oh, that was in your Boards time wasn't it?
(4) You don't need anyone to sing your praises, you seem well able to do that for yourself.

Paul

Unbelievable do people never learn from their mistakes............

I sincerely hope that this is not true as immediate serious action is required. by the club.

and are you moderating your own emails......... as its now disappeared!!!!!!!

Hi Gordon,

My (removed by myself) message was about Ken forwarding a private e-mail to Alan Welshman, resulting in a very lengthy message to myself from Alyson which is full of accusations and threats. Forwarding private conversations or e-mails is underhanded, nasty behaviour.

It transpires that Ken in fact mentioned it to Harriet. He did not pass the message to Alan or Alyson, and Alyson has confirmed this. It seems that it was Harriet passing private messages on to them, so be warned. Everything you say is being taken down and may be used in evidence!

This is particularly galling, as Harriet was guilty of passing private e-mails on before, from me to Geoff Ives. It seems some people can't be trusted. I'm personally upset as I put a note in next month's column thanking Harriet for her help with the 944 Register. I wish I hadn't now. [:'(]

can we not write in that any workers can not pass messages on or on behalf of,or campaign via another member.
It does more damage than good
How any one at the moment can think that the present board have any time to spare, and need some recovery time is totally beyond me.
As club members, Instead of polishing your cars, get out and thrash them to lose any built up animosity to other club members.
Move on in the right direction

Excellent post Paul.

I haven't had much free time in the last 2 weeks since appointment - but I do so willingly - as all directors have done in the past and present. All the club members are feeling the effects of the past month or so and its hurts us all. I have no animosity toward anyone who has been here previously, and none of the present board has intentionally set forward to upset anyone. Sure we all make mistakes, but I hope we can learn and move on - me included!

Friendship, camaraderie and fun is what this club should be about and I hope we can get that ball rolling anytime soon!!! Oh - and when I buy you a drink at the bar it will be on me not directors expenses

If you wish to prevent anyone forwarding your private emails then put something like this at the start of the email
'DO NOT FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO ANY PARTY WITHOUT MY EXPRESSED PERMISSION'

Then you would have a case in civil law. See this

Cheers

This is particularly sad news. I have been one of many who have been telling Harriet to put the past behind her and move on. I'm sure Harriet would have been welcomed back into the fold with open arms, especially after all the hard work she and Tony have put in over the years.

But if what you say is true, it is most disappointing.

This all has to stop now! As Paul Howel says, get out and enjoy our cars with our lovely friends! Many years ago, I too was forced to resign from the Board. I too thought I was innocent. However, the very next day I moved on and have now enjoyed many many years of fun with PCGB. Those who have recently resigned might follow my example.
