Too Cheap?

Hi :)

3 to 5 GRAND to finish [:'(][:'(][:'(]

Its a CAT C write off that means you HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING the Ministry finds faulty to put it back on the road....and you CANNOT argue about anything...

Also even if you do it.....its resale value as an ex write off will be VERY low...

All the best Brett :)

if getting it re-registered was as simple as stated in the advert, why have they not done it themselves.

I would steer well clear, more suited to spares i would have thought.

Hi :)

Excellent point and as a guess...they TRIED to get it back on road and too pricey...

I hate saying scrap for spares but in this case, its true :(

All the best Brett :)

Colour would have to be changed, but a few things irk - why after replacing an engine do you still need an accelerator cable?

Plus it says the damage was to the wing & bonnet - there's no pics of the right front wing and only view of the bonnet is high up in the air. Maybe I'm being too suspicious/skeptical but still...

If you did fancy it, you really need to go see the car to see what the situation actually is I reckon.

Hi :)

I know the answer about the accelerator cable.....on an early car the cable wont fit , you have to use two cables and butcher them for different ends so they fit....maybe they didnt figure that one out yet lol :)

All the best Brett :)

I actually Like the Colour..(Due to my Crazy Rockstar Life I guess [&:])
But the Potential Fixing Price of 3-5K it's not Viable ....And It's Not until People, Like your Goodselves point things out, that the Impulsive, Like Me, see Problems!
It's Obvious I know nothing About Cars, only the aesthetic Attraction

I don't think there is much downside on this if you are prepared to break it for spares. If the alloys are as good as he says then you'll probably get a third to and half of the purchase price back on those alone. Then there are all the bigger bits to sell as well. If I had a trailer and it was a bit more local I'd have a go at breaking this to see what the economics of it were.
Also, the three to five grand figure is just plucked out of the air: where does that come from? Until one of us goes and has a good look and/or has it inspected it is an unknown, and probably will remain that way until the VIC check and beyond. By the way, you have to put everything right on the MOT too, but that doesn't put any of us off does it?
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure closer investigation will reveal half-truths, omissions and probably lies but at £1500 (and they may very well take much less) it might be worth a punt, I certainly wouldn't dismiss it out of hand like some of the posters above.

I meant to add a response to this in the post above but forgot. Maybe they haven't done anything for the same reasons as the rest of us don't do things: more life than time, apathy, domestic circumstances, mid-life crisis, etc. Take your pick.

Hi :)

I am not dismissing it but for around 2k you could get a running 928 with an MOT..

I personally wouldnt pay £1500 for ANY car that was a Cat C....

I see a lot of 928s like this and "most" cost several thousand to put right, in this case I do not think its worth the money, IF it was they would have put it on the road and be asking 3k upwards (even with that colour lol)...which is just a matter of personal taste...

All the best Brett :)

Maybe they are too busy but if I was selling a car & getting it registered was as simple as they say, then I would take the time to do it to maximise the price.

Your right that the only way to find out is to go and see it, but for someone wanting a car for the road, this is probably not the best choice.
