(another stupid question)

im trying to put togeather a tool kit for my 912 what are the items im going to need??

is there items ( a tool kit)that i should always be keeping handy in the car?

Hi Helen,
I carry all manner of things to cover every eventuality (well almost) Most breakdowns are not going to be fixable by the AA/RAC apart from the easy things like Generator belts or flat batteries.

I would suggest at least the following which will help either you or the Breakdown person to enable you to get on your way, anything more serious will need a trailer home:

Generator belt and Spanner
Pulley halves
Oil
Bulbs
Jacking plate (assuming your jacking points are sound)
Decent scissor jack (not the supplied Porsche one)
Spark plugs
Selection of spanners/screwdrivers etc.
Cable ties
Jump leads
Warning triangle
Petrol can

If you are feeling more competant:
Points
HT Leads
Coil
Distributor Cap
Regulator
Fuel filter
Clutch Cable
Feeler guages

I'm sure I have forgotten something but you get the idea...

Just take Gavin with you everywhere you go and you'll be fine! Don't believe him if he tells you the quickest way is via Colchester though[:D][;)]

lol... [:D]

Seriously though, the first lot is fairly rudimentary and will help fix the common things like broken belt, flat tyres and no fuel, anything more and it's going to be truck home. The good thing is they don't break often! (touch wood)

Where is Colchester anyway?

Also I am in the proces of adding to the Register site a WAP page that will have various garages numbers etc on that will be accesible by WAP enabled phones. Hopefully providing people with an online Help page accesible anywhere. Mind you if you can access a WAP page from a broken down 12 then fixing it shouldn't be a problem... [;)]

The Register site has had a makeover too...
