Top bearing replacement steering column

To fit a new bearing is a big job, you need to take out the column to remove bearing. Two methods ,first is to tap in new bearing and push the old down the shaft, not tried ity but am assured it works. other (the one i used ) the bearing is OK it is just the centre sleeve of plastic that disintegrates with age. You can buy a new steel collar that slides down inside of bearing, available from Type911 etc . I used this but saw a better solution on Pelicn Parts, this is a nylon type material bush that slides down the inside of bearing and supports shaft, not fitted mine yet. The steel bush does work but i had slight scraping sound that annoyed me so will replace with the nylon bush. Have alook on Pelican Parts they detail the work well

No to change bushing takes less than 45 min, simply remove steering wheel, clean out broken plastic from inner bush (inside the bearing will push out the bottom) and slide in new collar.Replace wheel and job done

Thanks Geoff
