What did everyone think of Hammond's review of the turbo S tonight? If leaving the car left him "cold"' I'm glad that I didn't agree to lend them my one in the end. How good does a car have to be?

Aerial Atom V8....very entertaining comparison around Top Gear track Vs BMW S1000 RR Superbike....911 Turbo S....Racing VW Beetle dropped from a helicopter....in South Africa...on a salt flat.....W H Y ????????????

After nearly 50 yrs of the 911, is this really the best they could come up with ? Although Hammond did say "acknowledged finest drivers car and ultimate automotive precision tool that mankind has ever created" so we shouldn't be too disheartened [:D]

Did you notice how the Beetle still resembled a car having been dropped from a height of 5,000ft ?? Just shows the basic building blocks of the 911 were pretty sound [:D][:D]

Hi Robert. You were seriously going to offer TG your car for the film? Wow. You are one brave fella! Incidentally, did the arrangement include them footing the bill for a new clutch (if you have one?), new brake discs and pads all 'round, a full geo, four new tyres and the removal of any stone chips? [;)]

I felt so sorry for the poor guy (or girl) who owns that Ferrari that they deliberately drove over all those pot holes on the track!![] Poor bu**er! Do you think that they actually tell the owners of the cars what they're going to do with them?

I have to say that I liken TG to the bankers situation recently; they identify that people are unhappy with what they've done...............and then just do it all again!![&:]. Come on guys, that formula is as old as the hills!

A new series of TG is like watching England play football - you always think it has to get better but never does!

Probably because the CAA wouldn't let them do it in the UK.

I do find it strange that the show constantly slags off the Beetle. Its only sold 21.5 million over 60 years - the fourth biggest selling car I history. Must be rubbish, eh?

I'm shocked in the way that the program seems to of 'used' the owners for their own gain - that is the media though!

You get no assistance or help until they(media) want something!!
I pointed Sue and Mac in the correct direction but feel that we shouldn't ever again... they have already said similar..
After reading the other thread I don't think the club should either!![:'(]

What do you mean, Gary? Do they make a habit this then? Are you saying that they 'borrow' these cars and then just give them back without sorting them out first?

+1

Someone brought this to my attention on YouTube ("When Zippy & George did TopGear") :-

WARNING - Contains puerile humor and strong language...perfect for target audience of TopGear then [:D][:D]

As Gary has intimated, he gave us Rob's details. At no time did we suggest to Top Gear that a white 997 Turbo Cabriolet may be available for filming. Rob made the contact with the programme researchers himself and did not like what he heard. His subsequent refusal to allow his car to be filmed was completely supported by us.

The thought of Richard Hammond drag racing any car, at least five times, (and this was the original plan) should be enough to raise the blood pressure of any owner.

We feel extremely annoyed about the whole business, and when Mac's temper has settled sufficiently he will make his feelings known to the individuals at the programme who "used" us so badly.
