Top Gear, Sunday 12th July

Apparently, the Panamera is to be featured in Sunday's Top Gear. It's one of their races - this time, they are pitching the Panamera against a first class stamp.

Might be well worth a look.

Was worth a look. The car seemed great and seemed to drive very well, and I actually though it did look quite pretty, if a bit understated. Though maybe not as brutally quick as the M5 (which you wouldn't expect it to be with it being the entry model so I don't know why they made the comparison) it seemed on balance to be a better car. And there was the typical TG Alfa Romeo analysis that went along the lines of "Even though the Quattroporte is a worse car in every respect i'd still have it because it wins your heart" - useless. Bring on the shortened 2dr 928 successor.

Yes - I was pleasantly surprised by its looks from many angles - I wonder if it is like the old Ford Sierra, I hated it when it first arrived, but eventually I owned one and by the time they stopped building it, it looked 'normal'. Or is that just me?

Twas ever thus George.I think most people now thing the Cayenne is not such a bad looking car after all

While normally I would agree with you - in the Cayene's case its still ugly but it does have presence

I do not think either of them will ever grow on me that X6 is ugly betty and the Audi just looks a lump.
No thinking back I must have been gifted for liking my Cayenne from almost day one Warts n All

Well Kelly you must have serious leanings towards liking it as you mulled it over for a month..[:)][:)]

Sat in the car at the Porsche Experience up at Silverstone, where it's on display (along with the GT3, now there's a beast...). It is huge inside, and that from a KN driver. The rear seats in particular have acres of space with massive legroom. The car does have great presence, and may well be another Marmite car. I'm with Tiskev, always preferred the KN to any of the Rangie, Beemer or Merc alternatives.

Nice bit of a write up in the mail out from the OPC about the making of the Top Gear article...
Its not that often I read them, but found that of interest.
It'd be nice if it was repeated in the Porsche Post as a members info..
