Top Up oil Mobil 1 spec 997

Anyone know the exact spec of Mobil 1 to purchase to top up my oil? I want to put in exactly the same viscosity and spec my OPC would have used for the last service. The last bill just states Mobil 1 without any spec!

Cheers

Jason

Hi Jason
I have just asked the same question. I had a chat with a man called Guy at Opie Oils on tel 01209.215164. he said porsche used a few oils but Mobil 1 0w.40 full synthetic was one of the oils recommended by Porsche and it was perfectly acceptable to top up in my C4s even if it was not the same as the present oil.
He is probably worth a ring if you like me need reassurance.
Hope this helps Frank G

Only ever topped up with Mobil 1 0-40w

If in France make sure you buy some, that or Costco are the best places unless Opie oils can get a special..

Thanks guys[;)], will go for the Mobil 1 0W40. I was surprised how quickly one bar on the oil gauge dropped after the last top up around a month ago.

. . .I was surprised how quickly one bar on the oil gauge dropped . . . .

I confess to being somewhat OC when it comes to monitoring fuel/oil consumption.

Each bar on the oil level gauge is equivalent to 0.4 litre which means that the gauge indicates to the nearest 0.4 litre. So one bar down might only represent a little over 0.2 litre consumed, it's advisable not to overfill so don't add more than 0.2 litre at this reading. I make a note of the mileage when the gauge drops one bar and then when the gauge drops a second bar I know approximately 0.4 litre has been used so I can compute the mpl. With the gauge down two bars I then top up with 0.6 litre.

BTW Porsche say that better than 1000km/litre is within specification[].
