Torque settings

The ones I need are for the spark plugs, exhaust manifolds, and muffler brackets to the block and last exhaust joints. Many thanks

 
New spark plug (M14 x 1.25): 30Nm (22 ftlb.) Used spark plug (M14 x 1.25): 25Nm (19 ftlb.) Ignition coil to cylinder head (M6 pan-head screw): 10Nm (7.5 ftlb.) Exhaust manifold on cylinder head (M8 x 28): 23Nm (17 ftlb.) Rear muffler holder (M8 x 25 and M8 x 30): 23Nm (17 ftlb.) Silencer - M8 fastening screws: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) Clamping sleeve: 46 Nm (34 ftlb.)

Fastening clamp for tailpipe: 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)

 
Thank you once again Richard. Going to change the manifolds Saturday the old once very rusted up by the head. Found a pair in the states in nearly new condition seeing as there climate is better new hear around 500.00 as you probably know. A pair cost me 63.00 sterling one happy bunny.

 
Good luck! The manifold bolts are a pain to get out, and have a tendency to snap off in the head. Give them a good soak the night before, and don't be all "gung ho" with them.

...just a quick note that I had the same problem when my manifolds were changed - shearing of seized studs/blots is common, 11 out of 12 of mine were unmovable! A specialist exhaust fitter (ie someone who makes up custom systems) should have access to a special drilling rig that can solve the problem - often the guys who do the drilling are mobile specialists.....just in case.....

Just purchased some new manifolds bolts JUST in case there's dilemmas. Well iam surprised they snap huge head and a tiny threaded shaft? The wife just said they remind her of me šŸ˜‚

 
Dissimilar metals, exposed to the elements for 12-13 years, and subjected to many thousands of heating to several hundred degrees and subsequent cooling cycles = corrosion.

 
Many thanks Richard fingers crossed for tomorrow. Change the manifolds, both sets of muffler brackets,plugs and coils hopefully Italian in the evening.

 
Job done new manifolds, both muffler brackets, new plugs and coils manifold bolts were ceized one side more than the other only got five undone by hand. Once we got out the mini conductor over the bolts they all came out with great ease. So remember the tool ladies and gents a mini conductor heats around the bolt with out using a flame.

 
Whats a mini conductor?

My manifolds are really badly corroded and the seams on the mufflers are starting to split so I'm going to be picking out some new parts shortly but half tempted to give this a go myself. I know it can be a tricky and frustrating job but my local indy didn't give me much faith that they would get them off in one piece and would prefer to call out a guy with a rig....at Ā£50 a bolt! I want to find an alternative if thats at all possible

 
Seems a bit pricey - I got 11 of 12 drilled and retapped for 250 plus VAT. Horrible job though, I wouldn't want the responsibility or risk of potentially holing the water jacket if I got it wrong - make sure they have insurance!

 
HI Leon ive just completed my manifolds and muffler brackets.you will definitely need a ramp the job was very easy the only thing I thought was a pain was the top bolts on the off side muffler bracket At the top x2 13mm bolts. I also changed the plugs and coils at the same time o and put on new shields over the coils.
